SOLD, Five 6" Utility Fighters (UF2)

Thank you for the advice but at this point I would rather buy from a maker that is willing to accept an order even if it means getting put on a wait list. No disrespect to Carother, I wish them the best.

Seems to me his business model is serving him quite well as his stuff is always sold within minutes so why would he take orders? You can also be patient and sometimes (people like me or various other people) will post one of his knives on the exchange for what we paid for it.

CPK does preorders on some of their popular models.
I agree that the Friday afternoon sales can be frustrating, especially when highly desirable knives are only being offered in small numbers.

I wanted a Carother but it’s too frustrating to have to check a forum on a certain day and at a certain time. I don’t have time for it. It’s also why I have given up on owning a Busse or GEC knives. I have now lost interest in them and now put Carother in the same category. Unless you hangout on the forums all day and are quick on the draw you have no chance of owning any of these knives unless you’re willing to buy on the secondary market.

You and I don't know each other, so understand that the following is said without heat..........The bolded part of your post needs to be addressed as it's incorrect, and someone casually reading through here might see that and give up without giving this maker a chance.

CPK does preorders specifically to accommodate those who are frustrated with the Friday sales, so folks absolutely do have an opportunity to own these knives without having to turn to the secondary market. In the preorders Nathan offers a great many options ranging from vanilla to fully tricked out. Again, this is stated matter-of-factly, not as an attack because I have lost out on many many sales and know what it's like to miss. You've probably already been to his forum here but if not I'd invite you to stop by. Cheers.

These Friday sales aren't usually so nuts. We haven't had a sale sell out in a minute in a long time. We're here most Fridays, and inventory is often up for hours at a time and even sometimes a day or more. Most of the time, anybody who wants one can get what they want without too much trouble.

We are filling some contracts and a pre-order right now which has our output for our weekly sales reduced but we'll be back up to normal numbers pretty soon and the knives you want will be available at a fair price without drama <--- this is our stated goal and we usually do pretty well with it.

Hey Nathan. I hope I didn't start a string of negative perspective and dishearten any potential customers. I have been watching and meaning to snag one of your very highly reviewed and desirable knives. Just seem to wind up too busy on Fridays. I will persevere though (LOL). Or with the help of a friend...

I was just trying to be humorous. Unsuccessfully, apparently.

Not saying you are wrong, but your most recent record is 50 knives in less than 2 min (Sep 10) :)

Out of curiosity, how do this many separate replies get updated in the same minute with different info in each one?

You guys must be quick. Trying to catch one but gotta be fast around here :D
You can be 12345 and you refresh and you get bumbed down I have seen it happen and this is what has turned me off on these knives and will never buy one ! And can’t say I’ll ever recommend one either becuse if this. I know I’ll get ripped but it’s my opinion there fore i express
It.

Because many who want to flip knives for money are the early birds. It’s nice of you to sell what you paid for one but most don’t. To me, it’s a turn off for a company sell this way because so many that are quick in the draw are doing it for profit. I have no problem with capitalism but I won’t pay secondary market prices to the flippers. Not everyone spends a lot of time on the internet forums. I would rather have an option to preorder which I just learned was an option.

Nate I have reached out a couple of times in email and you have always been very quick and professional to respond. I misunderstood and thought all of the sales were run this way. For those that don’t hang out on the forums, how do we do the pre-orders?

What I typed in bold was my understanding. I thought all of the sales we’re run the same. I would much rather preorder as mentioned.

No worries, and thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what they've got planned for the next preorder, but there is an 'ask Nathan a question' thread and he's good about staying up on it. I hope that's somewhat helpful and that you get what you're after.

Okay. Then how would you folks suggest I go about doing it? Think it through... Because after a minute, you end up coming back around to the way I'm doing it. We have been down this road many times before.

At the end of the day, the only answer is increased output. Which we have done. Which is why this is seldom an issue anymore. Come back around in a month or two and these things will be languishing over the weekend again. This is a temporary problem caused by a temporary tightening in our output while we fulfill a contract.

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist just keep the train rolling brother! You're always gonna have passengers getting on and off. Y'all make an excellent product period. You exhibit professional and commitment when you ask us folks to chime in and see what our opinions are. Bottom line, you have an established way/system and just keep rolling. :)

Not trying to take away from CRK or Nathan’s sales but I scored one of the most recent releases. I ordered it with black burlap handles. If anyone that misses the sales repeatedly or cannot get online Fridays at 3 for whatever reason wants mine, I will offer it at cost. I’m almost always home at 3 so I’m sure I can get another. If this violates any rules or makes anyone from Carothers upset, I’ll take away my offer. But if it’s ok, then the offer stands.
