Sold a knife to a user registered in russian federations, which was weird because I set it as only US shipping. The invoice address I google was an office near an airport. Should I not be worried because it's going to a carrier and my responsibility ends when USPS delivers and Paypal acknowledges it? Or would the buyer screw me by saying the item is not as described? Thanks for any experience shared!

That happened to me recently.. Didn't sell a knife though. I think it's part of eBay new global shipping program. You ship the package to an airport then eBay takes care of the rest. It provides reduced shipping costs and international tracking to the buyer? Probably in an effort to drum up business to international buyers that would pass on item because of headaches that go along with the shipping process.

Sounds greasy. If you stipulated US only, then I wouldn't ship it. Refund the comrade his roubles and try to sell it again to someone that can understand US only. If it gets confiscated you might be on the hook.

You have to go in and exclude the places you do not ship to or anyone can still bid.I went through this after international became such a pain.Spring for priority with full tracking for sure.

I have no special affinity for eBay.

But I find it amusing that you refer to the site as "Fleabay", while being an active/participating Seller there...

Just as another user just mentioned.... eBay now presets that you will ship outside of the us, therefore the item is being shipped to the eBay shipping center that then ships the item to the country it was ordered. They (eBay) have to do the customs forms and it's thier responsibility now.i wouldn't worry about it one bit.

I sell quite a bit on eBay and always did not ship outside of the us because of the customs policies. I was surprised when I received an email from eBay stating congrats on my international sale which caused me to look into all of this as well...

I know a number of blade makers/sellers (knife and sword) won't ship to Russia.
There are a few explanations I could rationalize for the airport address; but it would only be theory.
Knowing PayPal for what it is, the first question is: Is the shipping address the same as the verified PayPal address? If not - issue a refund with a polite explanation, and save yourself some potential headaches.

I think there is a belief that saying the word "eBay" will automatically trigger some negative consequence. It's been written that way in order to be cryptic, but it reads pretty silly in any case.

That is the reason, since I've been issued a warning before for mentioning an online store, I assumed saying "eBay" is prohibited.

Thank you so much for all your feedback. First time doing this and it's been headache and source of anxiety. Might just buy a membership instead, but not like I'm selling tons of knives, couldn't quite justify the cost before. But if one buyer screws me, it's all pointless.

A point of clarification, linking to a live auction is prohibited, even in this section (which is dedicated to discussing transactions and dealers). This is the correct section to discuss your current topic, and I hope things are resolved and prove worthwhile in your case. As for the memberships, people purchase memberships because that money goes to paying the costs of bandwidth and server related expenses. No one is getting any money on the side. The owner has mentioned that if this site made as much money as everyone thinks it does, he'd be at home everyday rather than getting up and going to work like the rest of us. So, it isn't only to sell items that people pay any of the memberships, often times it's because they feel that they have gotten something out of this site and want to help keep the lights on. In any case, I hope things work out with this situation.

Its just as someone said above. It's the way the encourage more international trade without inconveniencing the seller. It happened to me with a Antique Gillette Super Adjustable i sold. The airport address is Ebay's receving location at the airport where the items arrives. Buy tracking to make sure it makes it to ebay. Don't worry about priority mail.

Is this addressed @ me? It is by no means speculation it is fact. Go look up their international policy.

Hmmm.

I guess I don't know the facts that make your conclusion all that obvious.

I would like to do that.

What address?
What airport?

I'll bet there are lots of addresses on or near an airport in the Russian Federation that are not Paypal addresses.

Remember, it's Target's policy to keep your credit card info confidential.

As I stated earlier go read eBay's easy international policy. It's a "service" they offer. You can opt out if you want. Please educate yourself before continuing on your tirade. You really are making an issue of something you obviously no nothing about.

This is starting to happen more and more around here lately . Issues of mental illness raised on certain threads, rambling, circuitous replies to statements that do not need reply, people answering the OP's questions and other members taking issue with the advice, needing evidence that will stand up in federal courts...whew!

Too much estrogen in the drama queens...

Just sayin
