Hey all. This is a little side line tool that I came up with just for fun, and it turned into a popular little item. So much so that I wore myself down making one after another for a short while... Basically, it is a very practical little bottle opener that can also serve as a knuckle duster like device if pressed into service as such. It doesn't satisfy most states' definitions as a knuckle duster, or an illegal weapon. It would simply be seen as an improvised device for the most part... Of course, that being said, use this at your own risk and make sure you check all local laws, just like you do with knives, and ensure you are in compliance.

Personal safety is something that I believe starts with the choices each individual makes. In my day job, people's personal safety is a number one concern of mine. Carrying something small, like this, that can give you the upper hand at a critical moment can be the difference in ending your day at home as opposed to in the hospital or morgue. We can't all carry guns 24/7, or even knives sometimes. Pepper spray doesn't always work, and tasers cost hundreds of dollars. Just about everyone carries a key chain, and everyone know's how to strike someone with a closed hand. 'Make it instinctive, and make it count.' Paramount principles in the defensive tactics classes I teach from time to time to both civilians and LEO's. Putting a key ring on your finger is also taught to a lot of women in personal safety classes they take. Why not have an actual defensive item on that key ring in the first place? And it ain't a half bad bottle opener too!!

I sell these for $12.50 which includes lower 48 shipping on my website. For BF members I am offering a discount and selling them for $10.50 which also includes shipping within the lower 48. Below are pictures of the first run/prototype. The newest ones will appear just a little bit different as they are waterjet cut and finished off by hand. So they are just a little bit more precise with the finger hole, etc. After the set-up fees, and waterjet service, and finishing these off by hand, I don't make a killing on these by any means, but I can explore further discounts for orders of four or more keychains. I am also looking into some hard anodizing on future runs, so if you are interested in a specific color, let me know. I may be able to work it into an exploratory batch I'm playing with.

Again, for BF members, $10.50 gets you one opener shipped to your door if you live in the lower 48 states (or APO/FPO/DPO). If you are outside the company shipping will be individually quoted and added at actual cost.

Follow my sig below and email me to make a purchase. Or PM me here. I will send you a paypal invoice if you desire to pay by that method. Or, I can take other forms of payment, allowing appropriate time for these methods to clear...

Will add photos of the new waterjet cut keychains as soon as they are done. As stated above, will be nearly exact copies, just a little more 'crisp' as they aren't done solely by hand. Re-stock will arrive Weds-Thurs and be out ASAP, Thurs-Fri most likely to all who order now (weekend of 6/28-6/29) my turn-around will be quick since I am free of a day job those two days. Will go ahead with a third run if there is continued interest at the level I've received so far. This run nearly already sold out... (wow, that sounds like some late night TV line for commemorative coins or something...)

Sorry Alpha. Saw your replies, but was stuck away from the real computer for a short bit... Couldn't reply to visitor messages via tapatalk... Have replied now...

Thanks for the interest and orders from everyone so far. I am honestly flattered and a bit surprised by it honestly. It helps a great deal as this is one of those little side items that help me keep my promise to my wife of 'making this hobby pretty much self-sufficient...' Well, try at least, as it isn't completely yet.. but what she doesn't know.

I am curious though, and would love some feedback, if there would be any interest in this design or similar in 6AL4V Titanium. Same thickness... but the cost would of course be a bit higher. I have the capability of coloring titanium in the tank here at the shop a bit easier than even anodizing aluminum. However, due to cost, I would have to explore a pre-order type situation I believe. Thanks in advance for any input...

Depending on cost I'd be interested in a Ti one. I like that this is very reasonably priced and other than the fact Ti is incredibly strong and lightweight I don't see a major need for it to be made out of it other than Ti is cool :D. Just a thought on your design also have you considered making the end of it flat as a mini prybar/flat head screwdriver? Not sure if it would affect the performance and feel as a knuckle duster though. Anyway that's my .02

Also meant to add... I can do a run for a single buyer if there is interest in a 10 or more quantity. Obviously special pricing available for that...

Thanks again for the continued orders. Nearly all sold! Thanks!!

Here is version 2.1 that I am thinking about doing if there is any interest... The price is going to be a bit higher though. This one is 3/8" thick material. The hex in the middle is for a hex drive screwdriver bit. The bit is held in the fat lower section behind a threaded cap. Will be all inclusive and give you a bottle opener, knuckle duster covering three knuckles, and a tip that can be shaped into a pry widgit if desired... LMK what you all think!!

First example of a titanium 1.0 coming soon for pictorial purposes.

Cheers, and as always, thanks for looking!!

Honestly yes and no on this and here's why:

Yes for what it is it looks like a duster with the purpose of serving as a bottle opener and having a little multi tool to go along with it.

No because it looks exactly like a duster with a multi tool.... should a cop or security wherever see it on your key ring, like when you take your keys out to go through a metal detector it's a little hard to try and sell it as a bottle opener. The original looks like a bottle opener and it's not uncommon for people to have a bottle opener on their key rings. Also like the first version because it looks like it can also be spun to have the end facing out to use it to poke/jab as a second option as well if you wanted to go that route with it similar to how you can use a kubotan in some instances, but without holding it I could be mistaken. But overall I like the fact that the original looks more like a bottle opener should it be a 'gray" area where say a LEO could say well it looks like it can be used as weapon it can be written off fairly easily by the owner and more than likely not land someone in hot water. The new version is a near impossible sell as anything but a duster with some gadgets.

Are there any of the aluminum original versions left?
Yep, two originals left. Sometimes they run a couple short, sometimes a couple long depending on the material allowances. This time I got a couple extra I guess. They'll hit my doorstep tomorrow morning and be turned around asap. The filled order sheet said 42, so I got lucky... lol.

There will be a run three with some anodizing going on. I still haven't been able to fill the orders from my workmates or local friends yet, so definitely not going to kill this one just yet. BF comes first, hah. Nah, honestly since I incorporated it's a pain. I have to keep track of taxed sales locally... so they'll get em when I'm good and ready. Anodozing will be red, blue, black, and maybe a dark grey. Any inputs if someone wants several of a color will be accomodated.

Ti looks like the price will be about $21-25 each unless I can find Ti cheaper someplace. The next batches will be cut locally, which saves me some moolah... but Ti ain't cheap. Again, a separate thread for those and they will be a discount pre-order situation that gets cut when a certain # is reached. Overstock being sold after at no discount. Coloration is easy with Ti... either vivid with heat or in a tank with current... so I'll offer that with it.

Fletch I see your point. Maybe for those that are allowed to carry such an item. I know that's the beauty of the first one, enclosing a single finger skirts the law in most states even if it was discovered. And I've yet to meet the person who can tell me what it is when first handed the thing without already being in the know...

I may tweak version 1 just a hair, and may see if there is something I can do with version 2 to make it work... We'll see. Input welcome. Financial compensation and design credit will be given to neat innovations.

Cheers!!
