Happy Sunday everyone!
This beautiful little brute is still available and waiting for a new home.
Originally posted as 4" and 5" Hunters (I made duplicates of each size), the name has been officially changed to Cowboy...seemed more fitting to their shape.

Specs:
A2 @ 59-60 HRC
0.175" x 1.5" x 9-1/8" OAL.
4-1/8" tip to scales with a high sabre grind and forced patina for rust protection. Not too dark, but a cool pattern came out of it.
Weight is approx. 11 oz., with a slight bias to the handle and a balance point just behind the index finger.
Handle is 3-piece with a beautiful locally sourced mystery wood and handmade denim and burlap Micarta.
- Thick and hand-filling measuring over 1" at the swell but nicely contoured and rounded for comfort.
***Wood is not stabilized, and the right side developed a crack during assembly (see close-up).***
- Repaired with epoxy to avoid starting over, and it has not expanded since.
- Multiple treatments/soaks with Tung Oil and Orange Oil and sanded to 1200 grit for a smooth finish.
Kydex sheath with leather overstrap and removable/reversable dangler designed to accommodate vertical or horizontal carry.
- Pretty tight on insertion and removal due to the flare at the front of the handle

I hope you all like it...

Bill, that's one handsome Cowboy!

And the forced patina looks great. What substance and technique (if you can share) did you use?

Andrew
Thanks Andrew!
:) Unfortunately I didn't invent the process, so not really a secret...
I boiled the blades in a combo of Vinegar, Peroxide, and Salt. Done in a few cycles: boil, clean, repeat...
I love the pattern that immerged, but honestly feel I probably could have done a few more cycles to maybe make it a little darker

Thanks James.
BTW, Dan also has a couple of my blades...including one of my sharpest/sliciest, the Peregrine.
Gotta be sharp or it isn't a usefful tool!
