No matter your stance on this subject, I’d like to think this is going to be a 50/50 horse race.

Feel free to explain why some of your knives are setup for whichever carry you decided on. Personally..none of my knives are setup for tip down, as I find it just adds another step to deployment.

Blade orientation means absolutely nothing to me, I've never noticed an extra deployment step on tip down knives I've had but maybe that's because they were in a left pocket.
All I care about on a knife with a pocket clip is that it's at the end for ergonomic reasons, this means tip up but that's not what matters to me.

"Ergonomic reasons" as in you look for deep carry clips? Or you just simply look for a clip with good retention? I recently sharpened a co-workers knife and the orientation was ONLY tip-down, naturally I carried it for about 3 hours just to see if I could get passed it. NO Bueno....

Just grabbed the nearest half dozen knives to me and had to check what orientation the clips happen to have...

Because I don't know... and that's because I don't care. "Deployment" gets accomplished no matter where and how it hangs from the pocket.

I don't decide on the setup. If the knife happens to be reversible, it won't matter. It's staying in the configuration in which I received it.

For the record, three are tip down, two are tip up and one is a balisong with no clip.

Glad to see someone owns a nice mix of both. It doesn't feel odd carrying one then the other? I suppose some of us are more ambidextrous than others.

No trouble switching off. Apparently I have enough muscle memory with both configurations that it doesn't matter.

An interesting note, of the next four knives, three are tip up and one is a slipjoint with no clip.

Half and half-ish so far, it seems.

So it seems. Have you ever skated or surfed? My stance is “regular” where as I know some of my buddies can ride goofy and regular with ease. I guess I’m just not that talented and it sadly translates to my knife carry lol

It doesn't really matter, though if I can I make it tip up. I have a couple that are tip down only, it throws me off opening them but on the second or third draw I get the gist of it.

Yeah..I’m just stubborn and stick to what I know and like I suppose. It’s like throwing a ball with your non dominant hand..sure you look like a girl the first couple throws but after that, I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it

For ergonomic reasons I mean at the back end of the knife because it's more comfortable in hand this way.
Tip down clips tend to creat sort of a hot spot on my index finger.

IMHO those who are prone to quick opening mishaps,
ought not to continually bring upon themselves
acts of repetitive multiple self-inflicted injuries
through the blatant mishandling if not wrong application
of superior technological advanced knives with wrongly positioned clips.
it also pays to be ambidextrous.
