Spider that's a handsome collection of dogs you have there. I would hate to see your food bill. :) Greta pics all!! Love these dog threads!!

Piper - loves to go to the timber, I hate the two hours it takes me to get the burs out of her. She is a upland bird hunting fool and will scare the crap out of any man that shows up at our home when I'm not around.

Cleaned up a bit, helping with a becker contest.

Here is our English Lab, Annabelle. She's a real sweet dog and probably the most obedient dog I've ever been around. This was her last Thanksgiving.

This is her this summer...

She leads the way, always with a stick...

She loves to swim and would do it all day if we let her...

This is Teferi, he's an undetermined breed, confounding to even our vet. (though he thinks he might have a good helping of Chow in the gene pool, but no purple tongue and a little small.) He showed up in our yard about 3 or 4 aprils ago, he slept in our yard every night for two weeks. About that time, we got the memo that he'd adopted us, he's been our dog ever since. He's a heck of a guard dog and a real ham; loves people and attention.

Here he is just chillin' at home.

Here, he's "guarding" our gear while we set up camp.

... And here he is doing what dogs do best:

I've had quite a few dogs in my day, but Tef is hands down the smartest dog I've ever met. Like comprehends English smart, Now him choosing to obey. that's another story. :D

I hear you on the obey part. The Husky's just look at me like I'm crazy and aloofly walk off. I have never felt I had so little control in my own house as when I ask them to do something or stop doing something. Guess it's part of their mystique.

On the subject of Dogs.... I am not one of those folks that donate to a lot of causes. BUT...

Villalobos Rescue Center in California is a group of people that do Pitt Bull rescue and placement. They also hire offenders who come out of prison and are on parole. Some of you know them from the TV show Pitt bulls and Parolees. For me, they are the epitome of good work to society. When you consider that they are working with people and dogs that have the "stigma" of being unwanted by society.

Got most of my Holiday shopping out of the way and had a few bucks left over and donated to what I think is a most worthy cause. I am not affiliated in any way with the organization but am truly touched by the work they do. Whether you donate or not, check out their site and the work they do.

I wouldn't give a plug nickel for most people but unless you have been loved by a dog, you really don't know what unconditional love is. This is a mushy rant for the morning. :)

The VRC? That's where we got Belle, our local branch of that very same organization, they don't just do pitbulls here though, everything from chihuahuas named Nacho to rottweilers named Killer.

I don't know how comfortable I would feel having a knife that big mounted for a cross draw, especially with tight fighting kydex.

Yeah, he's such a noob. I kept telling him to strong side an 11 or 14, but he's a stubborn one.

This is Twinkles and Zeke.
Both are little over 2 years old.
The pug was given to us by a relative that breeds them. She can’t run much, or swim, or fetch, or do much of anything else. But she has a sweet little attitude and my girls just love her to death!

The puggle was given to us by a friend whose relative was losing her house and was in the process of relocating. The poor dog was left kenneled in the house for days and weeks at a time with very little interaction with anyone. He came to us a little hyper, but has mellowed out considerably and has turned out to be a really fun little dog.
Both dogs are very patient with my girls and just eat up all the attention they can!

Growing up, I’ve always had big dogs. These are the first little dogs I have had, and gotta say, I don’t miss the big food bills and the cleanup is much easier.
It was a little different at first, but having small dogs has turned out to be pretty cool!

My Sis's dog Piper, she's about two years old. Great dog! If she weren't deaf I'd say she's the smartest dog I know, but then maybe that's why she's so smart. She's adapted very well.

Piper's son and my dog, Diesel. He's a little over a year old now. Very functional hearing. He's actually Piper's "hearing ear" dog. Maybe as smart as his mother, but neither of them are quite as clever as Diesel's dad, Clutch. Diesel-
