You're right on the mark, Svashtar.
Every time I've bought something new from HI, a similar blem came up as a special within a few days. Every time I've purchased a blem, an even better deal came up shortly after that. At first, due to my typical consumerism, I got angry at myself for not being more patient: "I bought a 25" Kobra for $150 and I could've had a perfectly good user if I'd waited for only $100. I'm stupid."
Then I thought about it. Here I am, with an outstanding blade that amounts to a short sword, coming from a company with some of the best customer support in the business, an outstanding knowledge base (almost a family) here on the forums to fall back on, acres of blackberries to destroy, and an edge that gets better every time I use it. $150? A pittance. This was a
bargain. The prices on the website are already best buys.
That, and those little crossed-khukuri pins are pretty cool too.

I keep one in my car, pinned to the sun visor, and another on my web gear. Always good for conversations. If and when my supervisor ever notices it and tells me that it's out of place, I'll convert it to a "subdued" color scheme with a black Sharpie.
My one regret? That Dui Chirra a little while back. Full set of tools, beautiful handles, an inconsequential blem, and only a little more than $100. The sharks turned their noses up at it. It had been sitting there for hours when I got home from work. (That, alone, should've raised eyebrows.) I thought and thought and thought about it. I decided to sleep on it. I woke up, decided that I wanted it, and found it gone. I
am stupid for that one. But hey...all I have to do is think of the joy that it's undoubtedly giving to the person who got it and I feel a little better. (That, and they're probably not whaling on it like I would.

) All things in good time. I'll get mine when it's ready for me.
