Some new Sodbusters and a few fleamarket finds

Thank you Jack, she did indeed. My sister and brother-in-law from Ohio, along with their three youngest children (11, 9, 7) stopped here for a few days at the beginning of their spring break trip to the Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Easter and birthday surrounded by those whom we love -- doesn't get much better!

Last evening we raised glasses of delicious amber ales to the return of your 29th.

Nice finds.
And of course......

Thanks a lot Mark :)

Unfortunately, I had some problems with the Imperial Scout knife, see http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...me-An-Imperial-Scout-Knife-In-Need-Of-Surgery

After further investigation (and with thanks to Uncle Andi), it appears that not only is the Black Angus not made from "Solingen high carbon steel", it has nothing to do with Solingen, and very little (if anything) to do with Robert Klaas. Apparently a US distributor gets them made up in Italy from stainless, and the UK distributor is so clueless he appears to think 'Inox' means something other than stainless steel! But then again his site does advertise a RR Barlow as a "1 blade stockman"!

Wait till you get to my stage of not only not celebrating your birthday....but not remembering when it is...:eek: sometime last month I suspect...:D

I like the look of that Black Angus though, frustrating all those avoidable errors in description. The Sodbuster is a very reassuring knife in the hand, my Queen Sodbuster D2 has very nice thick handles which is exactly what is needed. I think some of the German wooden handled ones would be the same, been thinking about one of them for a long while.

Thanks, Will

No finds for me today. I visited a couple flea markets Vanguard told me about when he was down in these parts last year, and all I saw were some badly rusted Kamp Kings (I'm not inclined toward scout knives). I guess Tom bought up all the good ones.

I came across over a dozen slipjoints in my local market yesterday, which is certainly a record. None of them however were of much interest, and certainly not worth the prices being asked for them.

I did get an Abram Brooksbank penknife with stainless blades earlier in the week.

Sorry about that Doug. :D
If you're in Ohio I can direct you to some that always have good inventory.

Thanks, but when I am in Ohio, I rarely get further north than my sister's house on the north side of Cincinnati.
