Some observations from a newbie...

Welcome to BF from another fairly new guy.

If you really want to get hooked, go bankrupt, AND lose a lot of blood in the process, buy a balisong (butterfly knife)! Spyderco's Spyderfly is an excellent way to start, but TAPE THAT BLADE!

Ye-haw!

Uhh, I'll pass on the balisongs.....it might end my career. Nobody would like a dentist with 9 digits.

gajinoz -- thanks for the link to the "Q". Trippy knife...hmmmmm ;) I mean, DAMN YOU!

Well, it's been two days, so I just bought my 2nd knife, a 551 Griptilian, for my motorcycle tool box. Ebay $46 shipped!

Is a Sebenza a sexual device? It must be, cuz everyone seems to orgasm around it....

Yes.......
The motion of opening it is like getting a..., well you get the idea.
And like sex it costs a man a lot of money, one way or another.

You might want to avoid actually trying to have sex with a sebenza...

:D

Welcome qqqqqqqman!

OK, you asked for it, now click HERE.

Well, I'll pass on the Strider knives for now.....but maybe I should sign up for the "International Training and Operations Group -- Urban Assault Training". I'm 5'9" and 140lbs. and bought my first knife the other day, but I've stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before! :D

Don't let the hype on the web page put you off, they make extremely good knives and their "you break it, we fix it, no questions asked" guarantee is not something you'll find everywhere. Mind you, I do sometimes question my own sanity when it comes to spending $400 on a folding knife! :)

I'm not sure what a Holiday Inn Express might be but if you need a Strider knife and assault training to stay there I think I'll pass on that.

What got me into knives and keeps me here are high-end customs, I love hard core tac/utility stuff too, but, when you hold a damascus bladed Osbourne interframe with top of the line black pearl, and lavish Warenski engraving with 24k gold inlay, well, like I said, that's what keeps me here. :)

Welcome Doc! Like a decaying molar, knife collecting can soon grow into expensive firearms, nice watches, expensive cameras, $300 flashlights, and other oh so cool tactical titanium guy goodies. Be careful, you've been warned. :D

p.s. My dentist is one of my very best friends. We pulled a funny prank on his partner one day when the office wasn't busy. He got in the chair and I was pretending to work on him and called the partner over for assistance. You had to be there but it was a priceless moment.

John...

I put 'em all in my hand and opened and closed 'em, multiple times until the clerks got tired of standing there and answering stupid questions. I nicked my thumb on a Kershaw Leek and drew blood. I almost died....of embarrassment. But man, that Leek was fun! ;)

I cut myself every single time I handle my Leek, usually closing it one-handed. Nice knife, but it's a bloodthirsty little sucker.

Yep, that's what happened to me....one-handed close, guided the spine a hair too fast and it clipped down on my thumb just for a split second. It barely touched me, but it bled....couldn't believe how sharp that sucker was :o Why do they make you put your thumb right in the "eventual" path of the blade ?? I'll have to practice this stuff, with BandAids already in place. What a freakin' noob....

You can watch hard earned hundred dollar bills evaporate into thin air, leaving a small, exquisite pearl handled, engraved treasure in their wake. MWAHAHAHA!! :D

Welcome! Come to Blade in Atlanta, GA, June 3-5 at the Galleria, and learn all you need to know!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
