This past weekend was just awesome, the Blade Show was fantastic! In an absolute departure from my usual behavior I spent much more time talking to various people than I did taking pictures...but I did manage to get a few here and there. It was great just being in the company of some really awesome people. Most I don't have pictures of because I was too busy paying attention to them...and I am probably not even going to remember everything right now as I write because there was just so much to take in... but I finally got to meet my editor Steve from Tactical Knives, Mike Fuller from TOPS Knives, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin, and Mike & Katie (Mr & Mrs S) of ESEE Knives, Robert Young Pelton, Ethan Becker, Chris Cashbaugh and Spencer Frazer from SOG, Andy Roy of Fiddle Back Forge, Rob from EXOTAC and his lovely wife (Rob like several of us lucky b@stards married above his paygrade :P), finally got to meet Joezilla. Hung out with Steve Davis, Morgan Taylor of Taylor Brands, Steven and the gang from Habilis Bushtools...and many more. Plus I got to hang out a good bit with Ryan Johnson, Richard Carmack, and John Hutcheson of RMJ Tactical, my sponsors...and John also has his own company SURSUM Knife Works and makes some fantastic knives. I was fortunate enough to leave carrying one of them home with me. I can't forget Dylan Fletcher, who's work I am really impressed with and a sample of which I was also fortunate enough to bring home.

This is (from left to right) Robert Pelton, Ken Onion, Jeff Randall, and Trace Rinaldi...I have no idea who the guy kneeling is.

They even had a photography class going on for a minute.

I like the balance of this photo with Rick Marchand on the Far left and Wally Hayes on the far right. The Lovely dark haired Australian lass in the center makes some beautiful cutlery!

IMG_8416.jpg

Contrary to popular belief Rick does occasionally smile...

Brent Beshara on the left, George Matheis on the right...Not sure who the guy in the middle is but I love the new Besh-Wedge commando knife he is handling.

Ethan Becker. I funally got to see and handle the new ESKABAR. Great little knife, can't wait till they're out.

Spencer Frazer and Scott Sherwood from SOG

A shot of the ESEE case

Don't let anybody tell you that Mike and Katie didn't work their buts off.

By the ends of the nights Katie was usually looking somewhat zombie-ish.

Morgan entered my knife design as their entry for collaboration of the year. There were several there that were much better but it was cool seeing it in the case.

Ryan Jhonson of RMJ Tactical.

RMJ Tactical is expanding their product line. I'm so wanting to get a kestrel in the woods.

They definitely had the "noisiest" booth!

IMG_8371.jpg

Of Course Team Busse was there.

IMG_8430.jpg

Hanging out in the pit after hours with some of the worlds premere blade smiths was just incredible.

This is the pit from 14 floors up.

Not a bad haul in the end. Robert signed my copy of The World's Most Dangerous Places, and I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to sit and talk with the man. On the left a new Tech Bowie from SOG to replace my old S-1 Bowie that somehow walked off. Top one of John Hutcheson's models, on the right a model by Dylan Fletcher, in the center a TOPS Rogue Wolf, an AH-1 from ESEE, A keychain ferro rod from Tool Logic (now owned by SOG), and a couple of new nanostrikers, with the one on the left being one of only two titanium models in existance :D. Andy also gave me one of his coozies.

finally, someone took pics of actual knives. so blade show really did happen. thanks for the awesome pics!

eta: was there anything new aside from the eskabar on the ka-bar booth? the becker forum seems to be tight-lipped when it comes to details...sigh.

There were a few things that had already been shown at SHOT, but I keep hoping to see one or two of the protos Ethan took to PWYP a while back. There were a couple I really liked a lot but haven't seen them come out yet.

Once again, good pics, and a good report, Mist.

I'll second JV3's question about the KA-BAR/Becker booth. Did you by any chance get any pics (other than Ethan)? Were they by chance showing a Becker folder?

Sadly I never was at the Becker booth in time to get good pics of the merchandise without impeding sales which I didn't want to do. I wish I had taken a couple of pics of the ESKABAR in hand but I was too busy listening to and talking with Ethan to pull out the camera.

I remember a new folder...but I'm really not sure what it was.

Thanks for the pics of the show Mist. Wish I could have made it.. Maybe next year I will decide to pick bladeshow over making money..

Glad you liked the pics bro.

That's the beauty of Blade being involved in your plans for making money :)

Sigh, if I only was a bit closer... Well, nevertheless, thanks for the pics that I can drool and dream on mistwalker! :)

Thanks, Mist.

Ethan is fun to talk to, isn't he? The man knows his stuff.

Thanks for the pictures. I hope to make it out there sometime. I would love to meet some of the makers and manufacturers.

At the RMJ booth, I was really surprised to find how much I liked the Shrike when holding it, swinging it, and flattening the 55 gallon barrel cradle on Friday... oops.... Fortunately they got it back up on Saturday with quite a few more screws. It really felt better in my hand than I'd expected. I went there expecting to like the Kestrel more but decided that when I can, I'd like to get Shrike. My daughter now really wants to pick up a couple of practice Shrikes for sparring.

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the pics. I wish I had taken more.

Glad you liked them. It really was a wonderful experience, I'll definitely be back next year unless something goes badly wrong.

Ah...so it was you that killed the stand lol. I like the Shrike...in size it's a compromise between the Talon and the Kestral with some added features for an urban environment. It is some certain "survival" applications I want to test the Kestrel in that has me so interested in it.

Great Pics Bro.......
I was suposse to go as well and the week before had to cancel my room due to work...
