Some pics from the 2007 Chicago Custom Knife Show

Thanks, Roger. Very good to see you again, I really enjoyed your visits :)

BF was well represented at this show, very good to see you guys there.

I had a great show, thanks guys!

Don & Danbo have been telling me for a while now, how good this show
really is, and they're right, and it will keep getting better.I expect I'll
go next year too.

The comments about the work are really appreciated too,Thanks.

All in all, I'd have to say this show was a huge success(all except for having to put up with that HillWilliam, Don Hanson!) :p:D

In all seriousness, Don. It's always good to talk to ya.

It was good, Danbo. You're alright, I don't care what anybody says. But Jody Muller is the original "Hill-William" :D

Next year, I gotta remember to rob a bank or something on the way there.... I saw many knives down every row that were screaming out to me! Of course, my major beeyotch of this show, (and others I've been to) is the eventual lack of effective air-conditioning. This fat swede was melting by mid-afternoon on Friday.

Thanks for the pics Roger... I did my best to stay out of them, thereby saving his camera from destruction. Surprised it didn't break with Danbo's mug though...

I enjoyed having dinner with Roger, Danbo and Ren. I'm not sure if Roger will subject himself to that again, and I'm SURE the waitress will not forget her initial arrival to our table.;) (I bet she'll have night terrrors for years). I hope we do this again.

a Hillbilly what has done gone out and got him some edu-macation:D And by the way....Don Hanson is NOT a real hillbilly, but merely a displaced denizen of the Redneck Riviera.

Thanks again guys. This is certainly a show that I would return to - and I'd even repeat dinner with Mongo and the rest of the motley crew. :p

Roger

Thanks for the write-up & pictures man! At least it's nice to see some of the stuff I missed out on!

Did you not go, or just missed these particular items?

If you didn't go, why not?

Best Regards,

I was unable to attend at all. On the one hand, I would really like to go, but I had family commitments at home that were far more important. And it looks like that situation will not be changing for the forseeable future.

A hillwilliam is an educated hillbilly. Thanks to Rodger for the super pics.

Truly sorry to hear that.

There are only two people, should circumstances arrive as such, that could keep me from a scheduled show, and one of them is my wife.

I hope it gets straight for you.

Don-
Any chance of seeing a closeup of that dagger from one of the Roger's first pics? It sure is purty (more so in person)!

I have no way to judge the Chicago show versus other locations, it's the only show I've ever attended. But each year it seems to grow in attendance. I walked in on Friday, about 15 minutes after it opened and saw a room more crowded than any I've seen during the previous three shows.

The room was full of beautiful pieces of work and really nice people. Whether I buy something or not, most makers treat me like an old friend. A side thrill for me was meeting Dick Marcinko at the Strider table. He's a hero of mine ("Rogue Warrior" book, Seal Team Six leader...).

Looks like the Chicago show is taking root. That's good news and bad news. I sure don't want it to go away (that's good), but once more people discover it, there'll be fewer knives for me to peruse and maybe buy (that's bad-but it saves me money).

Here ya go, Matt. Was a pleasure visiting with you and I'm glad this piece found a good home.

Thanks!

Thanks, Don. If I'd seen this pic, my 30 second hesitation before buying it would have been cut down to 2!!!!

Thanks for your fine work!!!

great pictorial, Roger. thanks. It's nice to see the faces behind many of the names here....

Anybody who walked away with a Hanson piece walked away with something special, IMHO. Great pic.

Roger
