The larger seaxen, incidentally, were very much sidearms. Fun stuff![]()
Love the history of knives, and sounds like you've done some home work. I always thought a seax was a utility knife, but I suppose any good sized knife could be pressed into service for defense.
I find it fascinating that different populations/cultures found different solutions, i.e. knife designs, to solve the same basic cutting/stabbing problems.
When you say long seax, how long is that? And do I need one?
