I just had an order from Buck shiow up and it contains a camo Sirus. I've bought a few Bucks lately with the camo handles and a thought just occured to me.

Why are they camo? If you are hunting, the knife will most likely be either in it's sheath or in a pocket, so it won't be easily spotted. Once you've pulled it out to use, wouldn't it be better for it to be a color that would be easy to spot if you dropped it into the leaves or layed it down? Something like the bright orange (pink!) Bucklite Max.

Just curious and nothing better to do or think about at the moment.:o

Same reason those fellas wear camo caps at the Denny's in the middle of May. Camo has become a fashion accessory.

;) That's kinda what I was thinkin', but then I'm not a hunter so I thought I'd ask. I've even seen some around with camo ties on their white dress shirts under their sportcoats.:)

Plumb,

Camo is the sign of the botherhood of the hunter......just like black leather is the sign of brotherhood of the bike.

I would not buy a camo knife though, just for the reason you state.

So true, I can't tell you how many people I see wearing camo everything (pants, shirt, jacket, boots, etc) as casual attire.

My wife just gave birth to my baby boy a couple weeks ago, sure enough, someone just had to get him a camo baby outfit:eek:

That reminds me of a story I read once. Seems this lady was visiting in Colorado (I think) and it happened to be hunting season. When she was asked how she liked their little town, she said "It's great! I particularly like the way you make all the drunks wear orange vests!" :D

Just a joke you hunters! No offense intended!

If I had camo handles sure as heck I'd drop it in the brush and spend the rest of my life trying to find it.

I think they look neat in camo, but don't have one. Its hard enough to find the shotgun when I set it down :D

(I'm typing this from Dennys with my camo Buck Knives hat on :D ;) )

Nothin' wrong with camo, I have some myself. I even have a couple of pairs of underwear in camo.

Ok then....didnt need to know that:D Mine get camo after use:eek::barf:

But seriously folks....camo always seems to cost more and when you loose the knife in the woods cause it blended, it can get expensive.

There is a level of off-season camo wear that is fashionably acceptable on the Redneck meter......total camo in any month not having a commonly observed hunting season , even at WM, might mean your a redneck. More than one item of camo outer wear, in church, might mean your a redneck. Camo clothing at a wedding, especially if your the bride, might mean your a redneck. Camo swimwear at any place other than the Gulf coast beaches, might mean your a redneck. If you drive your monster truck painted camo to drop your kids off at school and they have camo book bags, you might be a redneck. And last but not least, if you make your wife dress her little toy poodle in camo, you might be a redneck. Green and black scales are loseable enoungh for me, I don't need camo scales for additional help.

I really like good camo. You actually can't see the best, however. You can look at it but it doesn't distinguish from the background.

When I think camo I reminese about the classic movie "Predator" and the memorable quote, "She says... the jungle came alive and took him...", & see the beauty of excellent camoflage's invisibility.

The optimum camo knife has the blade and the handle involved. It doesn't look like a knife and you don't see it coming or going. Drop it and, unless it sticks into your foot, it is gone. I've a ZT like that.

Sidebar: Where did the dog take off to? What happened to the beer?

I lost a knife that had a dark green handle after using it to field dress a deer. I don't need a camo knife that is even easier to lose. Good camo helps you hide from other hunters...I'm not so sure about the animals.

I am a lifelong hunter,I have many hunting knives but only one camo knife in my collection,a crosslock hunter in advantage camo.I don't like camo on my knives, but i am a redneck.lol

I am a camo head, but have started phasing out my woodsy colored and camo knives for orange handled ones. I put bright orange or yellow electrical tape on my fixed blades now too, because when field dressing deer and hogs, I always lay the knife down and then freak out when I can't find it. Never happens with a bright colored knife. Oh yeah, they don't make me more visible to the critters either. :-)
