Some rambling thoughts and a question

I agree with the comments on the camo being the uniform of the hunter and shows your credentials to that brotherhood. In my closet, camo is definately a fashion statement. Although, I did profess to be a bow hunter for years, I do very little of it now, but, still wear the camo. As a high school principal, first day of school, I wore a tan shirt and camo tie. The Super made a comment, "We finally got him in a tie and it's a camo one!" So, the next day I wore a camo shirt with a tan tie--he made no comments, just shook his head.

To comment on your question about losing the camo'ed knife in the leaves, etc. let me relate a little story. When I was working as a street medic for Emergency Medical Service, all us medics color coordinated our scissors and blood pressure cuffs as a means of identifying who they belonged to. Being the kind of feller I am, I ordered camoflage! First time I used the cuff in the dark, at a car wreck, well, you guessed it. It's still beside the highway some where between here and the Great Sand Dunes.

Now that's funny:D I gave my bro a camo alpha dorado year before last, he stumbled on a hill and that's the last anyone has seen of it.....bright colors for knives work better for realistic use, as you're less apt to leave it behind, and more likely to find it.

We hesitated producing camo knives for years but it is not good business to tell your customers "no" for too long. One thing we did notice is that it made for a more meaningful and special gift for a hunter. That truly is a value.

I think they are just very attractive. I really like the looks of many of the camo patterns used.

I wasn't being critical of them, I was just curious about the practicality of them in the field.

Not to mention that when a camo Buck is lost, another one (hopefully) is bought. Now that makes perfect business sense! :D

In the end I look at Camo as: Its the means to the end of my favorite knife scales
..........STAG.............. the meat ain't bad either, he says while setting here typing in camo shoes.....

The Camo handles have never really done it for me though I did buy the Alpha Dorado with the camo scales on the web special. The blaze orange camo handles are more appealing to me but what I would really like is plain blaze orange handles on more of buck models, that would be sweet! Orange g10 on a 110, some of the 500 series, slipjoints and on and on and on.....:DI can dream right?

Two hunting seasons ago, I bought a new Buck Bantam. I had been planning on getting one in black, but when we stopped at the local Sporting goods store on the way up to Elk camp, they had a Camo Bantam in the display case.

After looking at it, I decided I really liked the knife and would get it for the trip, and maybe get a black one later.

Well, the pocket clip didn't have a lot of tension, but I wasn't concerned about it coming loose, and figured I would take it off when I got home and tweak it a little.

I took a running shot at a Coyote with my pistol, and thought for sure I had hit it, so up the hill I went to find it. Anyway, a while later I noticed it was gone, so I started retracing my steps to find it. Needless to say, the camo worked very well, I couldn't find the knife. :(

I wear camo when bow hunting, but thats the only time I wear it. That was my first camo knife, and I haven't had any desire to get another one after that little incident

I'm just a good ol flatlander boy. I almost always have some kind of a camo hat on my head when out and about. I only wear camo gear when hunting....got tired of my jeans getting blood stains and you don't see those stains on the camo gear. Here is the only camo knife I own, an old crosslock 180....love those knives.
