Here are some really very nice ancient walrus oosik sections for hidden tang knives. Oosik are in many cases very dense bone, these have very nice colors and polish up like ivory. Oosik is one of the most stable of natural handle materials available to us, it stays put. It's not necessary as in most other natural materials, but it does not hurt to let them acclimate to your climate before using. I am happy to answer any questions about the stuff or working with it. It is guaranteed to be legal and naturally colored, happiness is guaranteed, if you find you can't use it when you get it in your hands, return it for your purchase price back, please do that within seven days. I take all the normal forms of payment, Paypal, checks, or credit cards over the phone. The prices shown will be plus shipping and insurance, I ship using USPS flat rate shipping where I can, I ship anywhere it is legal and charge only the actual shipping charges. You may PM me, email me or call me on the phone (though sometimes I have loud machines running and can't hear it).

last original fly pattern that I tied, here's a hint - I am going to try and trick a halibut into eating it this summer

I imagine it would have to be something weighted and big to get down to them. How specific are you looking for? They will eat just about anything they can fit in their mouth. I have heard of some rabbit flesh flies, some with big white streamers, maybe something with a bright prawn pattern? What did you use the pattern for when you tied it?

Are you going to fish spawning grounds? Either way, YAHOO when you get one even the "small" 30 pounders with a fly rod! I've never trusted a fish with 2 eyes on the same side of its head :)

I haven't used it yet, I am tying some for next summer, to use on all the ocean, bottom dwellers. Here's another hint, whenever we catch a halibut on traditional gear, they have these coming out of their throats.

I love Oosic. Will take 16, 17, 18,19, 21 and 24. Should total $185 plus shipping. Email me with total with shipping. I will be traveling today and may not be back in touch until tomorrow. but, I am good for it.

On # 13 I will guess lead headed wolley booger LOL

I would have to guess some sort of herring pattern.
There is nothing better than saltwater flyfishing. When I lived in Humboldt County in Northern CA, I used to catch ling cod on a big white pattern I tied from a piece of tanned fur I found on the beach. It smelled like wet dog so my buddies called it the doghair. It worked. Good luck with the halibut, and thanks for the chance.

Sorry Jim, not a lead headed woolly booger, but I bet it would work.

Lovely stuff, gotta guess it is some kind of squid lure , isn't that a favorite food of the halibut?

Chris

Ya know, that's a very good idea, but that's not it. white fluffy patterns are very popular for halibut, maybe that's what they are imitating.
