Somebody talk me out of this

Look at the tip of the knife. The grind line is not even close to the center of the tip. I have a $20 “combat” fixed blade I bought years ago that looks similar.
You’d probably have to buy 100 microtechs to get one like that. Not acceptable for over $200 IMO
Oh yeah? Well I have a $10.00 gas station knife from Pakistan that looks similar:rolleyes:. Seriously, though, you’re judging that knife based on a single photo with questionable lighting and shadows. ( I’ve seen what a difference that can make) You seem to think your opinion is important to us - don’t you think it would be much more credible if it was about a knife you had actually held in hand and maybe even used before expressing such a negative opinion?

I was just telling him to be careful and ask that they check it over. The specific knife I was referring to was featured in an article on knife review.com
Not a big deal @ $225 they say. So I guess you and the author of knife review are fine with this

I wouldn’t be. But I’m not a spine whacker either so what’s important to me might be trivial to someone else, I get it.
But this is blade forums, not the home shopping network, of course we’re going to point this stuff out lol
I have purchased a few CRKTs (a long time ago I’ll admit), and I wasn’t too happy with them, even for the price

Edit to add: he said he might pass it along to someone else after he’s had it to check out.
If You think anyone will want to pay even close to retail for that specific ^knife^ (with the bad grind) on the secondary, you’re out of your mind.

I have to admit I find the crkt redemption to be quite attractive. It costs a little over $200. From what I understand they are made by hogue. So I am conflicted, why would hogue make a knife and give it to crkt? I have looked at other hogue models but I keep going back to the redemption. Am I making a mistake? I'm not trying to beat crkt up however in my opinion they make garbage and crap, at least the ones I have owned and looked at and used. I just do not want to get burnt so all of your opinions and advice will be cheerfully appreciated. Thank you again
Joseph
Hey Vlade. I only have a sample size of two so take this with a grain of salt.

I have the CRKT Siwi and Dad has his Clever Girl. Both solid knives despite the ‘ordinary’ SK5 steel. The Siwi is a big chunk of sharpened steel that somehow fits in my pocket. Great knife. Never had any issues with utility work. A food prepper it is not on account of the fairly thick blade stock. The Clever Girl has a sweet blade but the handle is a bit too pencil-like for my large-ish hands.

I’m not familiar with the exact knife you mentioned, but I hope this was still somehow helpful. IMO, a budget brand like CRKT is less likely to screw up fixed blades since you don’t worry about moving parts, blade centering, etc.

Potential Compromise:

1) Wait three months.

2) Start camping the auction site. You know the one.

3) Find knife for lower price from somebody who decided it wasn't for them.

4) Feel smug.
That sounds like a good plan, I have in the past hastily purchased knives and guns only to regret it. This makes perfect sense to me and thank you for your response. I'll call Mr korn Monday, cancel the order for now.

It looks like a kind of knife that I would like. It's called a CRKT redemption. Check them out on knifecenter if you want to get more information on it. I'm going to put it on the back burner for a while,

Probably a good choice lol. You can maybe find that dagger style of knife in other more premium companies if that’s your cup of tea. Happy hunting, friend.

Holy guacamole, that ain’t misalignment. That’s straight up knocked out of orbit.

I’m guessing the other edge is the spine without sharpening? It is a folding knife. I’m 99% sure that the spine side of the blade is faux. It’s a single edge dagger shaped blade. Hence why the edge looks wonky.

That looks quite nice and if it was sold as a Hogue, I might bite, but putting that CRKT logo on it is putting a pig on lipstick and ruins it for me. The CRKT brand is forever associated, for me, with cheap junk.
