One of our part time workers whipped out a knife to open a box. I took out my closed Sebenza and jokingly told him he shouldn't carry a knife. To my surprise he said, "Is that a Sebenza?". First time that happened to me. Anyone ever have someon recognize their CRK?

About six years ago while at the Dr his PA noticed my clip and asked if It was a Sebenza in my pocket.
I took it out to show it to him, and he then pulled out his Sebenza to show me.

How about when someone asks " how much did that cost 60 bucks" lol then show you there Gerber!!

I never hear that but do hear "why do you need a $400 knife? My $60 "insert brand" knife works just as well"

I've only had one person recognize my sebenza. I was dropping off a trailer I had rented from Uhaul and noticed a big monkey fist lanyard sticking out of his pocket with a benchmade pocket clip. He obviously noticed my pocket clip also and asked if I was carrying a seb.

Out side of a knife related situation like shows, meets or talking to people at knife shops it has happened twice. A weighter in a restaurant said "nice CRK, by the way" when bringing food to the table. I said thanks and asked what he had, turnes out he had a Benchmade on him. The second time was an old guy I was talking to while walking my dog in the mountains here in Taiwan. He missidentified my Umnumzaan as a Sebenza but he was close enough. :p He was carrying a Mora in his back pack. :)

Only my knife nut friend has recognised it so far. The rest would flip if I told them what it costed.

Nope, I've never met someone that has recognized a CRK that I'm carrying. I'm sure it'll be an interesting day and a lively conversation when/if it happens.

This kind of stuff makes me laugh when people claim on the forums that owning a CRK is a status symbol and that they are pocket jewelry. I'm pretty sure that status symbols need to be easily recognized--and pocket knives in general aren't, let alone a CRK.

Boy that's the truth. A Buck 110 is more of a status symbol than a CRK. Not many people know what they are.

Reminds me of a time I pulled out my Dragonfly in H-1 "yellow FRN handles" someone asked me to see it. They flip it open, then closed, hand it back to me and say "that's cool, what was it like $5 at Big 5." :D I just laughed and said it was a $50 knife.

The second day I carried mine, one of my clients immediately saw it and asked to hold it:)
He now has his own..
Haven't met anyone since who knew what a Sebenza was.

Never had it happen to me here in San Diego. I notice clips every now and then but its usually a Spyderco or Kershaw.

Yes, it happened to me one time. I was at my friends garage (auto repair shop), when a mechanic stopped by from a neighboring garage to chew the fat. He immediately spotted my small classic that was in my pocket and said, " can I check out your Sebenza?" I was like uh, sure you can. As he was admiring it he said, "I've been wanting one of these for a long time now. It truly is a work of art".

That was very cool, but it was the only time anyone has ever noticed it.

Have never had anyone notice my CRK(yet), and quite frankly, I feel uncomfortable talking to anybody about (insert whatever CRK I have on me) because it's always a useless ABC conversation about knives, and it's not worth my time to even bring someone up to speed on a CRK lol!

CRK is pocket jewelry but Strider, Hinderer, etc is a well made tool more than worth the cost...
