Something outside the box for next year

I am interested in making stainless damascus rings and jewelry. I tried a bunch earlier in the year without success and hope to work out a few issues and get some finished products available.

i made my wedding rings last year... i found rings easy with the right combination of tools. step drill to undersize, profile the outside, then use the drill press as a lathe and file the ring while it's spinning.... voila.

I plan to try a slipjoint, some form of a harness jack. Funny thing, when I first thought about making knives I thought slipjoint would be the easiest to make....how wronnnnng I was. I hope all your crazy projects turn out the way you want them to.

This will be sword year at Ashokan. I expect lots of us will be making swords due to WIPs and photos on those swords ..... that, and season 2 of "Forged in Fire".

I've finally caught up a little and need to finish up that big patternwelded dha, then it's on to one or two Filipino style espada y daga sets...so swords it is

Well, I have a pattern but already know I will redo it for a folding San Francisco dagger that I may get underway with if I can convince myself it won't come out a total mess.

I vote for steam punk. I really like that style of machinery and gizmos. I would like to try something my self in that style.

Not quite as complex as the Barnetts, as this will be my first steampunkish adventure. Idea is straight out of my goofy head... might make a cool knife, have no idea though who buys that kind of thing.

Some things you only hope to sell. If you make then good enough it can happen but that's why you are lucky enough to do them for yourself since then it doesn't really matter.

This year ?

I want to start making folder knives :)
And make a nice Kitchen knives.

Both things are going to happen.

Tommorow I go to buy Jung G60 surface grinder and probably,finally receive 74kg of AEB-L 3mm 320x1000mm plates ( ten pieces) :D

Just need a mini mill (BF20V + rotary table) and mini lathe... (Warco WM250V ) and starting to build two 1280*C knife kilns.
