Something small/packable to boil water in.

My thoughts are that it needs a lid (that can double as a plate) and a wire handle that allows you to pick up, lower, hang the billy. Have it made out of titanium alloy and your looking for the same one I am ;)
I'm pretty sure it exists as I remember seeing one at the camping shop in the city. I'm planning to get one after christmas.

Liam ryan lol, thanks Yea it may look a little wierd but I do not care lol. as long as it works for me.

Rocketbomb, you are so right lol. I tell ya there will really be just one or 2 flies that will just be suck a nuissence. Then I swat them and at least for a little while be fly free lol. The smoke from my fire does help to, but sometimes them flies just do not get the hint.

Bryan

Hey Bryan,
This is what you need.

I have one (not this make, though - mine works on 2 AA cells), and all you have to do is touch the fly with the swatter, and good bye fly. Saves having to wait for them to land somewhere you can get at them.

Doc

Yeah, but the electric flyswatters take a bit longer than is comfortable to kill wasps. Don't ask....:o

+1 GI canteen and nesting cup. Even has that curve to fit your hip. A bit heavy compared to the little cups, but a big drink of water and a great pot.

LBE with butt pack

How about a list of your LBE gear. What pouches do you have??
M1956, M1967, ALICE, MOLLE ????

Plus that's a HC lid, not "lip".
I thought you had one of those hot drink lip savers you can clip onto metal cups.

Typing error.:)

Hey CSG, Do you have any pic's of your Sierra cup being used.
Thanks
Hawkeye

Sorry, Hawkeye, no. All I've ever used it for was tea, coffee, and broth or an occasional helping of grub being made in a group. It's almost all I ever carried when backpacking as a kid as I didn't tend to take food that needed cooking in a pot.

Over the years, I had a variety of small backpacking stoves, all of which held the cup fine. You note in my photo the handle was bent backwards to pack flatter against the pouch.

BTW, in spite of the little ring which is supposed to provide some insulating value from burning your lower lip, these things can be dangerous! You've got to let the beverage cool down a bit. :D

Thanks for your reply CSG. I went and got mine out and thought that the
handle on yours was different.:D

I have used my to boil eggs, eat cereal out of,and for tea.

I have a Msr whisper lite and it fits it .Just wondering what others used it for.

Good tip on the ring .

Hawkeye

I have a couple of little stainless pots made by Texsport. They have a locking lid and a handle.

A good bit heavier (because of the fuel canister), but I do like my MSR combo. Pocket Rocket stove and Titan Kettle mug. Here it is on its maiden voyage.

The other day I dug out my old LBE. I carried a 1 QT canteen on each hip, both with a canteen cup and one with the GI stove. In the little pouch I carried water purification tabs, a roll of C-Rat/MRE TP, (I know, I'm dating myself!) and a pack of matches.

In the field coffee was a necessity and the second cup allowed me to cook up some Ramen while I sipped my "joe".

I remember my morning starter.

about 3/4s of a cup of water and the following from the MRE

2 Coffees
2 Creams
2 Sugars
2 Hot Chocolates

It had to be "cooked" or it wouldn't all dissolve.

Yummy! It was hot, went down easily, had the caffeine kick.

My son joined the USAF this year, while it is unlikely that he will need this gear like I did, I plan on passing it on to him this Christmas.

I have the same setup, but I found a small fuel bottle that fits in the pot, along with a match safe and the Super Cat stove. I like having my "kitchen" self-contained like that.

I thought you had one of those hot drink lip savers you can clip onto metal cups.

That is the one thing I don't like about the mini-solist. It is almost perfect, except drinking hot beverages from the TI cup sucks. You always burn your lip. It is a nice nesting bowl but not my preferred way to drink a beverage. I'd like to get one of those collapsible silicon cup and bowls for eating and drinking like the normal gentleman that I am.

What kind of bottle is it? Just like a small shampoo bottle or something similar?

I also tuck a handkerchief in with the Super Cat. Makes a good potholder.

It's a flat, squeeze bottle that Camp Suds liquid soap comes in. It fits in the pot, but only holds about 2-3 fills for the stove. Good enough for a day out.

Another vote for the Kleen Kanteen right in the fire. I usually just wrap my beanie hat or a bandana around my hand and grab it. Works well enough.

I also carry a Clikstand with a Trangia burner - all of it nests inside of an Evernew titanium pot. Very light, fuel is easy to obtain, and I can use the clikstand as a small wood stove if needed - see more details here:
