i was out trapping pigs friday nite by myself about 11:00 pm,something i do alot,i hiked 2 hours in an away from my truck,it was dark with just the moonlight shinning an i was in the middle of the jungle,i found a good spot so i set a snare as i walked about 15 feet away i could hear it trip,so i went to check it out nothing,i set it agian an agian finaly on the fifth time i was getting pist,im standing there with my flashlight looking at the damp soft dirt thinking its a rat or mongoose but couldnt find any tracks of any kind,all of a sudden at the corner of my eye i see a human shadow move,i dropped to one knee turned off my light an pulled my 45,i waited for a minute thinking its some pakalolo farmers coming to harvest there crop or watching me,but i could hear nothing,i yelled to them that im only hunting pigs an im leaving(this has happened before with no confrontation we jus go our own way)but there was no answer,so i go to grab my stuff as im loading it up agian i see it move in front of me about 10 feet away,i put my pack on an run to the area but there were no tracks human our animal,i got the weird,freaky feeling an started to get chicken skin,so i just got the hell out of dodge,i been to this area before with no problems..but this is not the first time something weird has happen to me.

has anyone every had something weird,or freaky happen to them alone in the forest?

Was it was the Menehune? That does sound pretty creepy, parts of Hawaii definately have some strange vibes too them. Like 'Iao Valley, that place is beautiful, but has some crazy history.

around here they use infrared to detect the wilderness grow ops......the weed has a different heat signature than everything else, even a small crop of 5 - 10 plants can be spotted easily.
 
Never had anything that creepy happen. I've gone into the timber and got that "creepy" feeling takeover, so I just left. Walked into a weed patch while hiking with a cousin in Idaho once. We just turned around and crept back the way we came.
 
you're lucky you can carry that .45 with you. if it was me all i would be able to do is pull out my knife and slowly back off. those guys out there growing "mountain weed" are armed to the teeth with dogs, shotguns, handguns, assault rifles, you name it they got it.

i've had some weird experiences in the woods but nothing like that. glad you came outta that one on top.
 
That is some pretty spooky stuff, wonder what/who it could have been :confused:

To tell you the truth, I almost always get that feeling when I hike around sunset.
 
what freaks me out is there was no one there,i didnt see or smell any pakalolo patch around, it happen so fast i thought it was pakalolo farmers ,an no foot prints ,i was leaving them all over,but no other prints i could locate none at all,the dirt was soft ,an i use japanese flat bottom tabis in the woods wich leaves a very different footprint than bare feet or shoes..
 
Not to be too voodoo here, but you were in Hawaii? Were you near a grave site?
