Something that really burns my hide !

Danbo, I think you have this Reload guy pegged pretty well. I am going to have to wait and see if more of his posts are intended to inflame, but TROLL seems like a good moniker at this point.

Keith.

This kind of shop around policy where you can return something if you find it at a lower price later on is typical of large corporate type stores. I think it's ridiculous to apply it to small stores the don't deal in the kind of volume that a KMart or Sears does. I'm all for the small businessman. Like everyone else sez, shop around, THEN buy and also...quit whining over a few bucks and enjoy the knife you (whoever) bought.

I agree with the theme . . . We are supposed to be adults . . . If we want deals we must do the leg work . . . not whine about it and expect the consequencess to be removed if we find something cheaper after the fact. Or being a "troll" in the name of removing personal responsibility!

Somebody close this thread, it has gotten everyone upset, and that was not my intention.

By the way...I was able to interecpt the shipment before it left town. I have a lot of friends in the shipping industry as you may guess. Therefore, no charge has been made to this customer, no knife has been shipped, the order and all payment information has been destroyed, etc. I suggest the customer go shopping elsewhere.

I'm guessing that Reload is the "customer" in question. Why else would he care about this in the first place?

If he is, he hasn't bothered to bring this to my attention either here or in private email.

John, just my .02 cents. You're a Member here and have the right to post as much as anyone. Most of the posts here are about deals big and small, so that makes everyone who trades here a "Dealer". It doesn't hurt anyone to see what it's like for the guys that makes a living selling knives. I agree with you a Deal is a Deal, the person you were dealing with doesn't believe that. You're better off without him.

Well let's see here.
Fact: Although, I've never done business personally with Cumberland Knives,I know from observation that he is one of the finest gentleman to deal with in the on-line world of knives.
Fact:Reload; You are a recently registered member,no e-mail address,no specific location. It is easy to sit back behind a screen and take arm chair shots at someone, when you don't have to be held accountable for your statements and hide behind an elusive profile.A total of eight posts, and you are taking below the belt shots at a well respected knife dealer.I think Cumberland Knives has been professional through this ordeal, and ultimetly took the same action I would have under the circumtances.
Fact: I haven't been to the website, and I no nothing about a disappearing
guarantee.I think most of the formites feel the same way as I do,and wish you would just disappear too.
Best Regards,Ralph

After reading this thread and adding to it (and choosing not to mention that our bent-out-of-shape friend "Blow-Load" has eight posts and no email) I have ordered a CRKT polkowski from John at Cumberland. He charged me a whopping $36 for the knife (retail 49)including shipping, and in his response to me via email, he told me that if I thought he was out of line to counter him. How the hell can I do better than that?

I asked if he could afford groceries at that level, as I am a business-man myself and understand the thin margins we all live by.

"Reload", your rock awaits you. Crawl back under it. I do hope you are considerately more polite in real life, and a whole lot smarter a consumer.

SPARK? PARA? MODS? YOU GUYS GONNA LOCK THIS OR WHAT?

Parker

Reload deleted his last post before I saw it. I haven't seen anything that would remotely justify locking this thread. If you're tired of it, don't read it any more....

Yep, a deal is a deal. Thats the way i alwasy look at it. as long as the product is good and there was no gouging of prices. this guy has to live with the deal.

John, you did everything right. Some people are gonna be a pain in the ass, and it's unfortunate that we have to deal with them. You are well known around here and nothing has been said to question your integrity as a dealer. Chalk this one up to a troll who has nothing better to do than bust your ass over a few dollars. Your policy is more than fair. Hopefully we've seen the last of him.
