one o them definitely belongs on Sooke Mountain!:thumbup:
I like the second one best, looks a little more up my alley in the tool/weapon ratio department.
My view on knives for the woods hinges mainly on khukuris, and there is no doubt that in the original design of the SMC, Jason and I carefully measured the attributes of the blade heavy, shearing geometry design of a khuk in order to come up with something more portable than a khuk but still a heavy hitter.
Here is the original sketch with the completed SMC, (please keep in mind that it is completely original and lacks many refinements which I would have done if I didn't find out Jason was ready to make a knife for me, and just had to whip something up to give an idea of what I wanted);
There were a great many cues taken from a khuk in the original design, if you use your imagination, you can see them.
While the first of its kind is spectacular, and I'm glad that you own it Joe, this second one really REALLY floats my boat. The hidden tang, more traditional handle construction, subtle fuller and combination of blade finish and handle material pretty much put this knife at the top of my list once I clear through some orders and $.
Top notch and excellent in so many ways:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
