Sometimes its worth it..

You know what 10 fingers, with the strength of the Millie handle and that thick blade stock...you might consider grinding a fatter tip and you could have yourself a pretty good little hard user. Kind of like if the Millie and Techno had a child! It could be your designated "pry knife" too! :D

Edit: or maybe angle it off that kahr arms delica. Whatever, the possibilities are endless. Have fun!

Thanks guys!

I think I'm going to stick with pry bars from now on gringo:o my first Millie survived years of heavy use and abuse but this break cured me of using them as pry tools.

I'm still working on the blade shape (limited to tools and skillz) its going to be easy to just cut the spine down to a tip but I may get creative. Maybe not cut the spine straight down but lessen the angle and then drop it at the tip sorta like a pacific salt.. I dunno just thinking out load

edit: hadn't thought about the kahr blade.. Hmmm

Looking great, so far. I can't wait for the finished product. Kudos to you for making it something useful.

using it as a pry bar in a pinch ^^

enfield, i can't say for sure as i was in an awkward position.

Thanks for the condolences sal and others :)

i already have plans for it.. Ill try and refine it when i get home.

do it!!!

Went ahead and chopped the handle.. Still have to remove some material off the bottom rear to keep the military look but I'm done for tonight

Just remember to dip the blade in water often to keep the heat treat unaffected.
Might as well disassemble for grinding (warranty is already well and truly gone ;)), which will keep grinder grit out of the action, and allow to feel when it heats up better.
But quench often and before it heats up.

I second the suggestion of a thicker tip...it seems you may need it based on this experience. :p

Thankfully this has yet to happen to me. I'm not looking forward to it. Hey consider yourself lucky that the tip didn't poke you in the eye after breaking.

If you want to pry with a Spyderco, get a Tuff.
CPM3V steel, titanium slab with G-10 scale and steel liner on the other side combined with an oversized pivot...it really is Tuff.

Sorry, I had to. We all learn, unfortunately you learned the real hard way. Hope you get it fixed up nice man
