Son Of A...

Rolf, if you don't want to scratch the blade, don't stick it into anything with abrasive media inside.

Where I come from though, we consider the performance to be a little better after the upholstery's been ripped. Don't be such a poofter.

Don't worry about that. Scratches happen, normal wear. I put a scratch in my watch band when I bought just so I wouldnt be afraid to wear it. Unless it's a safe queen, don't trip Rolf.

Don't know if kydex is realy worse, but I've several nice leather sheaths that scratch the hell out of my blades!

Sure it's not a huge deal since they do get used plenty, but still when you pay over $400 for a new knife and the FIRST time you take it out there's a huge scratch all the way down your pretty blade, there is a definite moment of WTF!?!

I'll take leather any day over kydex. I haven't had a kydex sheath yet that didn't mark up the blade of the knife it was holding. I had a kydex sheath that actually rounded off the tip of my Montroc Silencer (how many of you guys know what that is, hmm?). Plus, leather smells good. Kydex just.......smells.

Kydex rules around water.

Leather is more funner.

There's no such thing as a perfect knife and there's no such thing, IIRC, as kydex scratches. Unless we're talking scratches on the knife coating.

But yes, that would suck.

the satin finish on my bud nealy amoeba would disagree with ya on that FWIW.

Never put a satin blade in a kydex sheath if you want to keep the blade pristine.

I don't care how new the sheath is.

A few makers produce a sheath that grabs little, if any, of the blade.

But you're still going to get scratches. Just the nature of the beast.

Depending on the maker, the same can go for coated blades.

Even leather will sometimes leave minute "scratches" on a satin blade.

Time to use that knife...

My buy brown turned my ghetto satin busse into a scratch magnet.

I don't really care because it's a user.

Thanks for the input you wankers. ;)
Dig this, Oku's Kydex has Not scratched!!??

I like to use my sheath as an emergency strop. How do you do his with Kydex?

How can any knife be "perfect" until it is so well used it shows some battle scars anyway? First thing to do with anything that seems too nice to get scratched up is just go ahead and scratch it up and get it over with - then you can actually enjoy owning and using it and stop worrying about it.

Ummm, some of my knives are for investment. They will be worth more if they're not all scratched to hell. :)

A lined kydex sheath might be an idea for you. I have a couple of Nemoto
knives that have lined sheaths and they have no scratches at all. :)

A long long time ago Busse's came with Eagle sheaths. The sheath had a liner all right but it was some kind of stiff rubber..It was quieter than kydex and a lot less "scratchy". Wish someone would do that again. That being said I dont have any investment knives..my investment is coming back with all my extremeties and my knife in one piece.
