This show just keeps getting better and better.

Anyone else watching?

I must admit...I watched the pilot episode and my wife and I both said much the same thing...There's no one to like here.
Everyone just seems so thoroughly nasty... Oh, well acted and all, but still...

Bad people behaving badly. Same problem I had with The Shield. Well written and acted, but gee....A bit of lightness now and then.

From Episode one....maybe the best show on TV right now.

Amazing cast, from top to bottom and great writing.

I just keep waiting for Vic Mackie to show up!!! :)

Great show.....I am a week, I just have trouble staying up tell 12 on a worknight...I think I may need to invest in a DVR for just this show!

Sons of Anarchy should have no place on a regular cable tv lineup. It showed simulated sex, and a guy's bare butt grinding up and down on some skank. I turned it off.

HBO and Showtime are one thing, because you don't have to pay for them if you don't want them. But I should be able to scan through the channels without seeing that. Some of us have kids at home, and we should not have to hide our tv's from them.

Ever so slowly, the world is Slouching Towards Gomorrah, and no one seems willing to stop it.

I even have to pay twice as much as a Gold Membership here at BF just so I don't have to see the porn.

I guess that I could cut the cable and unplug the computer, but I should not have to.

Oh I have Sons of Anarchy season one on Itunes. I also have a pass for season 2.

One thing that did piss me is I wasn't able to play it on the old projector (something about non HD copy protection compliant) I am not buying a new projector just to play Itunes clips.

Otherwise I do enjoy the series

Opinion respected, but you are paying for cable, right?

I watch it every week. I missed the first few episodes of season 1, but have seen them all since.
I just wish Jax would hurry up and cap Clay. That story line is getting pretty stale.

I watched one (the first) episode and thought it was laughable.

Having worked with and investigated (U/C) 1%'er motorcycle gangs in the 80's I just found that the show was wide of the mark. (Perhaps that changed in later episodes.)

Anyway...just my POV.

Oh I like porn too I wouldn't dream of using my platinum membership to filter out any beautiful obscenity the mere thought of that is simply blasphemous blasphemous.

Sons of Anarchy is no worse morally than some war movie where patriots blast tens, hundreds, perhaps thousands of people to smithereens in the name of god and country.

I am not a pacifist but I do see war as failure a failure of humanity to work out their differences, a failure to think things out rationally, intelligently, and logically. Whoever is the blame is not as important as the failure to avert it before if picked up momentum in the first place.

Humans are plagued with a natural inborn love of violence and retribution which probably explains why I love shows like Sons of Anarchy. It's just another show written by humans that reflects typical human problems.

The fact that humans are not the gleaming white alter boys that they envision can be very disturbing to some when confronted with it.

If you don't like it change the channel

I'm sure the writers are taking creative liberties in regards to their portrayal of motorcycle gangs/clubs. It's not a documentary after all. :p

No doubt, but it just didn't ring true enough to hold my interest.

On the other hand, certain series, like The Wire (by way of example), took liberties but were true enough in their portrayal to make them compelling.

In any case, I'm not condemning anyone for enjoying it, just stating my reason for finding it wanting.

I've heard so much good stuff about The Wire and have never seen a single episode. I'll have to check it out.

Years ago I read a book called "Mafia Enforcer", by Cecil Kirby. My uncle who was a Cincinnati cop recommended it to me as being a pretty accurate portrayal of that "lifestyle". Anyway, Kirby was a member of the Satan's Choice MC out of Canada who testified against the mafia and now lives in witness protection (if he is still alive).
The "Sons" are a bunch of choir boys compared to the crowd Kirby ran with.

My experience (though harrowing enough for me and my tastes) was nothing compared to some of my colleagues who did much longer term and deeper investigations into the sub-culture.

Funny you mention Canada. Oftentimes folks don't think of Canada when it comes to outlaw gangs of this sort but it brings to mind an investigation my partner and I (and a couple of our ATF colleagues) worked together.

Through an informant we got hooked up with an individual who was supplying automatic weapons obtained in South Florida to fuel a war between the "Rock Machine" and Hells Angels that was ongoing in Quebec in the early 2000's. (He didn't care which side won as long as he profited from the conflict.)

He ended up serving time in our federal system before we shipped his butt off to the RCMP for them to do their thing with the dirtbag...

On another note, while the bikers sometimes did contract work for the mob, sometimes they were rivals in competing enterprises, such as the "topless" industry in Nassau and Suffolk Counties in NY.
Back in the early 80's the mob ran many of the clubs in Nassau while the Pagans ran several of the clubs in Suffolk. I was working both ends (UC) and it was an interesting time to say the least.
