Carried a newly finished build today- a "recoil thrower" I just put together. Instead of having the emitter mounted in the center of the reflector facing out it hangs down and points into the reflector (like a satellite dish) and the light bounces out, there is zero spill, its 100% hot spot. Very impractical for, well anything really but awesome. At ~70m the spot is ~4"!

In my biz that type of light is called a "beam projector". The last time I used one was as a spotlight on top of a torm for "The Phantom of the Opera" at the Curran Theater.
