soooooo - whats so great about the B8?

Jeez, Jerry announces a ganzaa this week and I'm talking people INTO ordering?!?!?!

What the hell was I thinking? :D

UGLY as sin, WAY too big, WAY too small--who in their right mind would own one? I'd definitely recommend sitting this one out, guys.

Yes, I'm certainly not going to buy one.....

At least not after I buy my first one or two:D. Mike

thanks for the answer's

can't say that made my life easyer ;)

i guess i will need to see if price is right....:o

I've never had one of the basic lines but I do love res-c. Some of my favorite beaters are scrapyard knives specifically because of it -- it is really nice when hitting things like hard wood. Takes a lot of the sting out. I much prefer larger blades with res-c over micarta or G10 (although in smaller blades I prefer micarta and g10 over res-c).

What is m-infi?

Home now and found the videos... It was a 1/4" Basic 9 (Cliff Stamp did the review on the B7)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwcRSU0R8kE

If that doesn't convince you of the value to performance ratio of the Basic line.... Nuttin' Will!!!:D

Imagine how indestructible a .275" version of this knife would be!!!!! (a perfect BEAST companion to the svelt 1/4" B10LE and an anorexic .180" B6LE);)

Oh, and the recent Basic LE series have all been standard INFI, not M-INFI so they should be even better!

What's so good about the Basic 8?

IT'S PRETTY MUCH A FUSION STEEL HEART WITH A RES C HANDLE!!! BLOODY AWESOME!!!!!!!!

What is m-infi?

Modified infi. If I remember right it was developed as a lower cost infi with similiar performance.

I have slept and drank a lot since then though

I have a basic 5 thats m-infi, asym edge, its a good slicer

What's so great about the B8? Nothing, at all IMO. I don't see what all the fuss is about, I don't see why anybody would want to buy one of these silly knives……

Everybody should just sit out the ganza, you won't be missing anything I promise …… :p :D

Fair Dinkum, Mate!!! The Flagship blade of Busse Combat with Res-C handle--are you kidding? How perfect is that?

Also akin to an NMSFNO with Res-C--one of the most popular do-it-all knives Jerry ever produced!

I envision a Camp Tramp with a 1-1.5" longer blade. My Tramp was a workhorse that completely disappeared on my belt. Completely understated and sheeple paid no mind to it.

Dreaming of sabre or full convex. Should be a stellar blade in any case.

It's too perfect Will. I shall acquire them all. MMMMWWWWAHAHAHAHAHA

Good point Will. Love my NMSFNO -- great balance, do it all knife, the one to reach for when you need something big but not unwieldy, more than a chopper, but can chop when necessary. One of my all time favorite Busses.

...the one to reach for when you need something big but not unwieldy...

I think this one line sums up the appeal of the Basic 8 perfectly. Sounds simple, but it's not such an easy balance to strike.

Is a smaller knife better-suited for more delicate/tedious tasks? Sure

Will a bigger knife chop better and give more reach for self-defense and clearing trails/campsites/shooting lanes? Sure

But a strong 8" blade knife paired with a good folder will handle almost any blade-related task, and will perform most of them handily.

In a sub-one-pound, guaranteed-indestructible knife that truly fits this genre, I predict the Basic 8 will stand alone.
