Sorry honey, but while you were sleeping....

Im all about hunting but come on this is a bit much. Admin needs to maybe think of taking this down. Lets have fun but lets be humane. Its obvious you had to shoot it many times.

Chill man, I shot it multiple times TO BE HUMANE. One dart wouldn't kill it.

You see the blood in both pics, mine and the op's. Well I didn't remove the bb, and the op hasn't seemed to of removed the darts, so I'm going under the assumption that puncture wounds do in fact bleed.

A shot from a BB is hardly considered a puncture wound. I won't argue with you though. You are obviously more versed in these areas than I am. ;)

Well would you give me a few examples of what you would consider a puncture wound? How about a deer shot with an arrow? would that not be equal to a mouse shot with a dart? If a hunter shoots a deer with an arrow, and assuming it's not a gut shot, does it not bleed? Does the hunter not have a blood trail to follow?

All I'm saying is that once you are dead, you aren't bleeding all over the place. When the heart stops pumping, blood pressure drops, and blood stops running out.

Haha this thread was fun. I didn't expect to stir such emotions... To answer a couple questions...

The first dart going head on stopped it from getting away but it was spazzing in circles, hence not knocking it on the head. The second white dart through the side killed it instantly as it was spinning about. The red ones where just overkill for fun. Don't throw paint on my mouse skin rug. I am animal friendly.... I even thought about feeding it to my pet snakes.

I thought about that cooking contest but the truth is I can't cook worth a damn. :D

And yeah it bled with out me removing the darts. Oh, and finally the two red darts didn't bleed because they were post-mortem.

A modern broadhead cuts a pretty big swath through a deer... And on a pass through shot a deer bleeds like CRAZY.

Not quite equivalent to a dart though... Although a vitals shot with even a dart/field point arrow will put a critter to rest right quick.

A deer shot with an arrow isn't a clean puncture because of the cutting head on the arrow. Traumatic puncture wounds will bleed because of the damage done to surrounding tissue.

Clean punctures like in my examples (hypodermic needles, canulas) don't normally bleed because the tension of the skin on the implement seals the wound. The needles on the blowgun don't have any sort of cutting head which would inflict trauma, and that's why I said they wouldn't bleed; and if they do bleed it would be very minimal. :) You are correct about not bleeding after the heart stops. The blood inside your body tends to gel shortly after death, only to liquify again after decomp starts.

I love hunting and am all for killing these little shits when they are in my house, but that part is a little F'ed up to me

Just my opinion.

.

I respect that opinion. But is target practice when the target is already dead all that bad? ;)

did you purchase the blow gun or is it something you knocked up yourself? if so i could use some 'how to' tips on making one for the mynah birds that have begun to infest my property.
cheers

Awesome kill man. Blowguns with people behind em that know what they're doing can be quite effective. My neighbor has disposed of several squirrels, rats, doves, and no joke cicadas right out of trees with his.

Seriously? Some guy comes in here trying to stop us from being inhumane?! Good luck!

Not to hijack the thread, but I've always liked blowguns and have had a few. They're great for getting escaped mylar balloons off the ceiling:) I don't know what kind the OP used, but it looks like the smaller .40 caliber type. They're fun, but don't pack much of a wallop. I recently picked up a couple of Cold Steel .625 Magnum blowguns for my son and I. They were very reasonably priced, with a little searching, and are a blast to shoot. The darts are stout and hit very hard. These darts made me rethink the capabilities of a blowgun. It's also very easy to shoot a blowgun accurately. My son was nailing a shoe box across the living room right away and he's not even nine yet. Over the years I've never killed anything other than crickets, balloons, and time with blowguns, but have had a lot of fun. I find them relaxing. Take care.

IS ANYONE SELLING OFF A JUNGLAS BECAUSE OF THIS THREAD?
My PM box is operational.
