(Sort of) Loveless style sub-hilt.

Very good work on knife and sheath. Thanks for posting, I've been enjoying Al Williams book, and have scaled a chute to attempt this winter.

Very good photos too.

I was wondering why you chose to do a frame handle?

Thanks Mark Behnke

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question in all the excitement:D

I made it with a frame handle as the blade is slightly wider than the handle on the Loveless knife pictured

I assumed by looking at it that it was made with a frame rather than fitting the guard from the front. Maybe someone who knows more about Loveless knives can tell us more..

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks Ian, thought maybe you were keeping secrets:D,

Interesting, I have admired that knife and not noticed the difference, I'll take another look.

I don't keep any secrets Mark...mainly because I've got none to keep.:)

...I'm still trying to find them out myself.:D

Bob use to do a lot of framed handle tangs. Way before it became popular with the smiths. He called it wrapping. Most of them were brass framed. Or as most often listed when coming form Loveless, A Brass Wrapped Tang.

Thanks Mike.

I've often toyed with the idea of making a brass frame handle...although it probably wouldn't get many favourable comments on here!

As we all know, brass has no class.:D
