Southeastern Custom Knife Show - Sneak Peek

those scales on the bottom left. To me that looks like a bull calf on the right eying a heifer calf on the left. Am I sick or does somebody else see it as well?

Peyote?

I just meet all the guys from Fiddleback Forge this weekend at the Southeastern Custom Knife Show. Great group of guys and some beautiful knives! Thanks again guys!

It was great to you and yours! I forsee a ton of your handle material finding its way onto my knives!

I was making firewood all day yesterday, and in meetings all day today. Holy crap did I miss a fun day at the forge. Allen, those scales on the bottom left. To me that looks like a bull calf on the right eying a heifer calf on the left. Am I sick or does somebody else see it as well?

Had to look, but I agree, or it might be the acetone fumes, lol

Here is some pine cone goodness for you guys :D:

It is reminiscent of the movie Armageddon when they were giving psychological tests to Rock Hound with the ink blots.

Dad Gum! Looks kinda like tarpon scales a little. I love those. My wife might get jealous cause I'd be staring at it so much.
Congrats on this one.

Thanks Will, she is definitely a keeper. I had my eye on this one since this thread was posted, and I was real happy to see it was still available by the time I got to the show. What really made my day was when I found out it had a tapered tang (I cant resist the tapers). This makes my first Asp and first Fiddleback with a swedge, and so far I have only been able to find 3 other Fiddlebacks with the pine cone scales. Andy outdid himself on this one

Begginer's luck?
I'm not a knife collector.
I'd never been to a knife show before.
I found this website and this thread looking for info on the show.
I bought one before the show and one at the show.
Their table was overwhelming, how would you pick?
They were all about the nicest knives I've ever seen.

I don't have any info on this, but I can't stop looking at it.
The camera doesn't do it justice.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you've got a verrrry nice Asp there (might be a Sneaky Pete; can't tell from the one photo). Looks to maybe be a black ash burl over natural canvas with a lime green pinstripe, 5/32" 01 tool steel, tapered tang goodness. As stated in a previous post in this thread, enjoy it; its a damn fine knife. Carry it, use it, and don't be afraid to get it dirty-- it will treat you good.

Oh and welcome to the addiction as well :D

Pretty sure it's an Asp in either Black Ash Burl or Black Locust - 1/8" Tapered. Nice looking Fiddleback for sure.

I think the knife in the previous post didn't have this thumb ramp on the spine. I'm not dog'n the other one, but this has my name on it, I'm so impressed.

It was nice to meet you Bob. Enjoy the Shark and the Asp, two very good choices!

Btw, polled Hereford scales need to go on a gentleman's steak knife... Hollow ground 3/32" TT 154 madness. Just sayin' , I'd eat every steak for the rest of my life with it ;)
