Definate date set for September 28th and 29th, Deb and I (God willing) will be there Friday afternoon. We are going to get a 2 bedroom cabin(Deb doesn't do tents). If anyone wants to split the cost of the cabin with us let me know.We have a definate from Sandy Morrissey on the sheath demo and a possible folder technique demo.We still need a forging demo volunteer, but if not we can just hammer and learn from each other and just have a good time:D.I would suggest that anyone who plans on attending make their reservations soon.
Please e-mail with what you would like to bring so I can post the list of what we have.

Dont forget you're cuttin knife for the competition!!!!

Gouge ................Coal forge,charcoal,propane,post anvil,2x72 grinder,cut 2x4's

I was raised in Blue Ridge, GA and Betty is from Murphy, NC. Her folks live just over the hill from the Folk School.
I'd love to attend and maybe share some folder making knowledge.
Let me know what I need to bring.

I didn't mean to kill the thread by posting:)
Let me know if it's still on. I'll be in that part of the country during that time.

By no means have you killed it Kit.Glad You can be there. I'm looking forward to goin down to the Toccoa River Restarant for some trout:p
I dont really know enough about folders to tell you what to bring? I guess just you're experience would be more than enough.

Mark Williams, Chuck Fogarty, Kit Carson sounds like a good start to me. I will contact Chuck Patrick, Mike Williams, Warren Glover, Larry Aikens, Dennis Bradley, Jim Ragsdale, Rade Hawkins, J.G. Lonewolf, Steve Davis, Fain Edwards and others in the area. Jerry Hossom has already indicated he will show if no conflicting shows at same time. Like the idea of "show and tell" idea of Kit's and think it could be a major theme in itself and photos would be appreciated (at least, by yours truly!) Mark, when you go to the Toccoa River Restaurant, my wife and I would like to join you for the prime rib which is "fanger likkin" good!

Kickin!! I'm so excited about this that I cant see straight. You're on Sandy, never had their prime rib.I drove 200 miles one time just to have the trout.Sounds like this is going to turn out to be a nice and informative event. And a lot of fun, good people and good food.I can hardly wait.

Another thought I had was for everyone to bring their knife collection. I know a guy, Pat Fogarty, pff on the forums, that lives close and has a great collection. I'll try to get in touch with him.

Hey Kit,

Pat Fogarty is my father:D I actually just asked him a day or two ago if he would house and dog sit for us while we came to this thing, but if you want him to come I think I could talk him into it ;) I know someone else who can dog sit for us easily. If my daddy's comin' y'all will see some damn nice knives!

Hi Pat, How about some Randall knives?, I guess just about anything would be nice.Anything pointy and sharp qualifies as something most people want to see.Does anybody have a guess as to what the average temp should be around that time of year? I hope its cold,i'm about over this heat.Really looking forward to this.

Got my reservation on the cabin, if anyone would like to share it with Deb and I ,shoot me an e-mail.

Mark

Well it's looking like from the posts from this and other forums, plus e-mails , that we should be about 12 strong not counting family. Hope all can make it.

Daughter and her nubby have indicated they're prolly coming.

Gonna be a fun weekend.

Regards,

Pat

I believe that Jerry Hossom, Dan Mink, and Mike Wilson are planning to attend and I am still hopeful of three or four more that are tentative. Most of these will be driving in from near by. Am getting stuff together for demo on sheath making---Sandy

Thanks for trying to get folks together Sandy. I think Jerry Hossum will be in Paris the last I heard. Still looking forward to it.
