Southern Grind Bad Monkey Comparison Pics

You do have to buy the tool separately. They are $15. I am not sure how I feel about the proprietary hardware yet. I havent bought the set yet as I have no real need to take the knife apart.

I've had my Bad Monkey a couple years now and feel it's a good knife for the price. As for size, I'm not into big folders and this is as big as I'd ever carry. If ever they come out with a 3" blade version mini-monkey I would buy one in a heartbeat!

Only real complaint I've read is the short pocket clip. Yes, it is short but if you want to replace it clips are cheap.

Thank you to everyone who jumped in on this thread. We have been a Southern Grind dealer for a while and I love their knives. When we work with them as a dealer they are on top of every request immediately. Emails and phone calls are returned with in hours. The number one complaint we hear is about the steel choice. I understand it a little bit but also respond in kind, that those who own them, seem to have no problems with the steel. I have one that mixes in heavy with my rotation and I love it. Fit and finish are incredible and every time someone comes in the shop and holds one they quickly grasp why we beat our drum so heavily about them!

Good to see all the positive feedback on these... Since I just ordered one. Excited to get it.

Mine has an edge as sharp as anything else out there. it easily slices paper with no hangups. I can feel its sharpness when I slice open a letter, the way it effortlessly flys through it,i think as long as its heat treated well and the right edge is put on it,its a good steel for what it is.

I am also a fan of the short pocket-clip. It is easier to use the "wave" feature with the short, not as tight, clip. I have yet to have the knife fall out of my pocket either, so its a winner to me. The only downside I can say on mine is that its a bit difficult to find the sweet spot on the pivot.

The pocket clip is perfect with jeans. They leave a small gap between the clip and the handle, which allows a smooth draw and repocket of the knife with one hand. The short clip and little bit of knife showing creates the illusion of a small knife in your pocket. I tend to catch my clips on counters and stuff as I walk. I bent a sebenza clip way out once. The SG clip has yet to catch on amything. I havnet had mine come out unwanted and I have been carrying it everyday for the last month. The great thing is that a standard Emerson, Protech or Benchmade clip fits the hole pattern. For those who want this knife DO NOT LET THE SHORTY CLIP TURN YOU AWAY! Try it and then if you dont like the clip switch it out for a long one.

WHICH KNIFE LOOKS BIGGEST JUST BY ITS POCKET PRESENCE??

Sorry about the blurry picture

We just anodized the liners on a couple tonight! The gold/copper color actually looks really cool!

Whitty

That looks pretty awesome!

You dont happen to have any pics of the two different grinds they offer in the satin finish do you? I havent been able find anything showing the differences or if you could tell without having them in hand.

Do you mean the hollow vs flat grind? Or Tanto vs Drop?

Yeah in the photos you can hardly tell the difference. Mine is flat ground.
