Wow! I was told that the war wouldn't start 'til NEXT week! :(

Reading this thread, I was reminded of the slogan on the back page of my Spyderco catalog:

"Integrity is being good even if no one is watching." (tm)

If I was a big knife dealer, I would just pack up a few dozen (or hundred) knives and ship them to the troops without EVER mentioning it publicly. (Word would still get out and my generosity would ultimately receive whatever recognition it deserves.)

I love you guys, giving A.G.'s knives away for him. Your generosity is unparalleled!

He made a mistake, offering the discount on these forums. He apologized and he left. Maybe if he gave each of you a free knife, you'd drop it already?

:p

I don't often enter these frays (because most of them are quite silly), but in this case I'm going to have my say.

I bet there are quite a few custom makers as well as production knife companies out there who have donated some of their products to members of the military. They gave what they could and then they kept quiet about it. IMHO, that's the way any charitable donation (money, products, or time) should be handled.

Giving a "discount" on the "sale" of a product - no matter how well intentioned the offer was - doesn't quite have the right flavor to it and I would guess that's what many members here objected to.

Now, let's all make up and go on with the next topic. There are too many black storm clouds on the horizon to argue about this.

Would someone please start a Sebenza thread? ;)

Mr Russell,
Can't you include this offer and put out a flyer or catalog to your customers? or the email list sent out every week?
Just an idea. Your help, your ad, your costs, your deserved kudos.

Keep up the great work.
John
