Spanto or Slicer, which do you prefer?

I just got a Slicer this week & am still strongly in my honeymoon phase & I am really digging it, even more so than I expected...but I gotta say, I still prefer my Spantos! Such a fiercely cool grind! :)

But you can't go wrong with either...it's all just personal preference.

My two(2) Favorite knives were always a tanto and a spearpoint so, when I discovered Rick's creation of genious - The Spanto, I fell immediately in love.
Been in Love ever since. :)

For me it depends how much hard use your planning to do with it, the spanto is designed to withstand more prying action. Whereas the slicer is better for a lot of normal cutting tasks like cardboard cutting, its narrower spine and point provide less resistance.

In my own use I prefer the slicer, because I don't do much prying and when I do it's not with a knife (even though a lot of people do). The spanto grind is still a pretty unique shape though and unlike anything else on the market.

SLICER ROCKS.................Traditional kinda guy..........

I agree "either" or "or" is a matter of preference. There is no right one or "grail" or "better than this". Nonetheless, it is interesting and fun to see which Hinderer fans prefer to carry and why. Like they say "two heads are better than one" so true is the saying "multiple heads make for good conversation".

After that...... It is a toss-up. BUT a nice stable would be a spanto and a slicer in 3.5" (both flippers) 1- 3" slicer and a 24 (just because) after that..... you are "Collecting":)

A poor quality image to go along with these words...

Its cool man, nothing personal I'm just saying.... these are like the old " Do K&N air filters really work" when the Jeep or Camaro Forums were hot.

They don't work to filter out particulates if that is what you are asking...

:-)

I think some of that conversation is more about performance increases. Like do they really increase this or that as claimed..

And can you do me a solid and lock this thread?...I believe it's done and done...just reassures personal preference(s) come(s) into play.

They are both great! Pick the one that suits YOUR needs not what someone persuades you to get. Enjoy and by all means get both! Before the lock.....
