Speaking of Strider...

Thanks Esav! I will make my decision soon. I maintain the edges on my Barkies and BM710, I've just never changed the angle on my knives cutting edge before. I can't wait to by an SMF and learn to reprofile it, thanks again.

One last thing, I know I want the blade stonewashed and the grips ranger green, but can't decide between CC, GG or standard. All seem great, what do you guys think?

I like the CC vers the best personally.

Has anyone had a Strider sent for a Krein Regrind? That would thin the blade out some.
@ Lycosa - As soon as I posted this, I saw your reply above mine. LOL! :D

One very important thing is that it will void the warranty if they do.

I am not one to void the warranty on a $500 knife.

I came across a Strider AR that was reground by Tom Krein. It was wicked sharp. Like a dumb ass I sold to an undercover fed for a lot more than I paid for it.

I have never understood this concept... Buy a bad ass folding knife that is tough as nails with a no questions asked warranty (as long as you do NOT "pimp" it in ANY way.)

Then send it out to turn it into a slicer, and throw away your warranty

Want a slicer, carry a Mili or Para.... Caly3, any slip joint.... But why the heck would you turn your hummer into a lowriding racer? :)

i had an smf with krein regrind. the stop pin fell out, and it was replaced for free (minus my shipping costs). no voided warranty i am aware of.

the blade was still plenty thick, but the edge angle was much better for slicing.

Must have been awhile ago then before they changed their Warranty. ;)

If your folding knife has been modified we won't fix it so don't send it in

modified= if any tools were used on your knife to change its appearance Your warranty is void
Change the blade grind= void
Polish the screws, blade or titanium=void
Modify the handle=void
File your lock bar=void
Drill any holes in your knife=void
If you strip a screw we will repllace it for a charge
If you break the tip or chip the blade we will fix it no charge
If you take the knife apart and ruin the lock up thier might be a charge
***charges are detirmined on how long it takes us to fix it****
WE WILL NOT SEND OUT OR SELL ANY PARTS

That seems a little overkill to me. If you send a modded knife to CRK they will fix it under warranty as long as they deem the mod didn't cause the problem.

Strider had a ton of problems with people pimping their knives and otherwise messing them up then expecting Strider to fix them for free.

So they changed the warranty, something about they had been spending way to much time fixing screwed up pimped knives, it must have been a lot of them or they wouldn't have changed it.

It never fails, idiots will screw up a good thing everytime.

So changing the edge angle on a $500 dollar 'hard-use' knife voids the warranty.<sarcasm>Yeah really is the best warranty in the business.</sarcasm>

No, it doesn't.
Regrinding the entire blade does.
BIG difference.

Well, I guess people do put 28 inch lo-pros on their Hummers...

I wouldn't, but hey I'm just a NC redneck! :D :p

But yeah, the warranty is void now if their is any "pimping." :)

Ahhhhh

There is a freaking HUGE difference between regrinding the whole blade and changing the edge angle.

You can always buy one and send it to Tom Krein for a re-grind.

That voids the Strider warranty. ;)

That is what we were talking about..... ;)

Somehow I don't think he is going to pay $125 for a new blade and the labor for Strider to fix it if it snaps.

I can tell you for sure that Strider ain't gonna cover it after the blade was thinned out.

So I guess the "NO BS WARRANTY" is a thing of the past?

Too many idiots screwed that one up for all of us. :(

Pimping, having them reground and other assorted things and expecting Strider to cover it.

Looks like it got way out of hand over time and Strider had enough. :(

If the knife is left as it was from Strider it's covered. :D

They don't even want people to take them apart anymore it got so bad.

Hacks with dremels have been screwing up firearms for years....it was only a matter of time before that carried over to knives. :)

Pimpin got really popular and a lot were doing it , probably still are.

Take a new firearm to a smith who is a hack ( we have enough of those in this town ) , then send it to the manufacture and try to get them to warranty something someone else screwed up. Ain't gonna happen most of the time.

Take your new car , have a bumpstick cam put in , larger fuel injectors , headers and any other mods , and try to get the dealer to honor the warranty...best of luck.

PC's are the same way , take your new Dell , open the case and start modding , you have a problem later , bet they don't honor the warranty in most cases.

I can't see how any one can expect ANY knife manufacture to honor their warranty on something that was modded.
