Spear-Carriers!

I was going to get one of those S&M's. They were sitting there for ages, but being as slow at making my mind up as i am, next thing it was gone. Your picture makes me realise how daft i am. Both beautiful knives. They may have been the last of buying a well made American limited run knife at your leisure, quite a few are in carts in milli-seconds now. Anyway all is not lost, this does have beautiful covers on it.

Thanks cudgee
I was the same, I have been looking at these for a few years but finally found one at a price I was willing to pay. It didn't dissapoint, not quite GEC, but very nice.
Those are some good looking covers you have there.

Thank you. got hold of it years ago, inexpensive but very well put together indeed, Italian maker on the blade and the scales are Blonde horn.

should make up for the other horn handle issue on the Sabot last time. How do you like the bone on this Italian make? How is the Aurillac working out? I got the juniper one and still working in the action some, I hear a little noise like grinding when I open and close it, may just be dirt in the hinge.

It's an interesting comparison : the Sabot I had about 2 weeks and the horn began to curl terribly in layers. The Italian knife I've had probably 15 years in the same conditions (sometimes it's as dry as 11%!!) and it and other horn knives have been OK. The replacement Sabot in wood is very good indeed, extremely pleased with it and the seller's actions
