Spear or Clip blade?

Those swedged spears on the white owls look great! Are they pinch-able?

Not really, because of how snug the pen blade lays against its back side. However, the spring tension is so delectable, it's easy to get the spear moving via the nail pull and then quickly pinch it, almost in one motion.

At least, that's how it is with my White Owl's long-pull spear blade.

Best of both worlds

I don't find the white owl pinch-able. Since it's a a one-spring design, the blades are too close together and interfere with pinching the main blade. Oh, and like a Hobbit I have small hands and nimble fingers.

Oops, looks like Pertinux answered that for you.:o

I love both for different reasons. Usually, a knife pattern determins the blade shape because one or the other either perfoms better or looks better with the pattern. With the White Owl, you are looking at a knife that could be used for a myriad of uses making the blade shape a matter of preference. I must say, both spear and clip look great on it!

Clip just seems so classic to me. Perhaps because of the Bowie and Buck 110, but I tend to think of clip as 'the' blade shape for any main blade.

I also like both, but on the whole prefer a spear-point.

I like spear and clip as well. But somehow I tend to like the clip blade as my general mainblade more than the spear blade. It´s not just because of the appearance, but the clip blade looks a little more traditional. Both blades have the tip in the middle of the blade. So they might have the same cutting skills (clip & spear).

I likea clip point on my slipjoint.
Great for scraping and poking, and they just have more character IMO.
And I cant tell much of a difference when sharpening either.
I do like a spear pt or drop pt as a secondary though.
