spear

If you have not already heard of Gene Morris you may want to check him out. He had something like 592 spear kills with different kind of spears, from CS to his own model and who knows how many different ones in between.

He has a museum done in Alabama that I'd love to see myself.

His own designed spear based on his decades of hunting is a bit pricy at $500 but seems pretty cool.

search for "the greatest living spear hunter" and you can see his web site.

(After looking a bit more at his web site I see he passed away while hunting, so don't know if the museum or his spears are still available)

Not enough spear talk in these forums. Bumping this thread to see if anyone has anything to add.
Horseclover, (or should I say horsemanure?) you may as well stay out of the discussion, I almost vomited reading some of your posts. Sociopath is a word that comes to mind.

Are you sure you don't want fries and a cold drink with that?

Lol, good one.

I've actually been thinking about making a simple spear, although I have no idea how important a socket head would be, versus a tang construction, wire wrapped to protect the head of the haft. My skills and equipment do not extend to forging yet.

CF if you make a spear, i'd love to collaborate with you on design. I have some very interesting ideas but completely lack the skill to pull it off.

Stay on topic. Kindly point me to the post where I asked for a hamburger? In your mind maybe your post made sense.
Apparently, it made more sense to you, if you thought it to not have been a possibility.

Popcorn and a piss warm beer instead?

What on topic matter have you to share aside from admiration and fawning for my attention?

BTW, this is a sword section. The entire thread is off topic for this subforum.

Cheers

This thread needs some mod attention. I'm sure someone will be in here shortly to tell you to play nice, but until then, I'd like to remind you that this is an INTERNET forum. You can't stop people from posting their opinions, and frankly, speaking for myself, I'd prefer not to see language like sociopath, whiny, vomit, or asinine. There are definitely trolls in this thread. Personally, I'm not particularly convinced that horseclover is one of them. Liam Ryan definitely threw the first stone, and as near as I can tell, hasn't offered a single legitimate addition to this thread. Just saying...

OTOH, as far as off-topic goes (another thing that was first brought up by Liam Ryan), there's not really a spear subforum, and the only other likely possibility would be the axe, tomahawk, and hatchet forum, since those also have a haft. However, there's already a polearm thread in this one, so it doesn't strike me as terribly off-topic for this section.

Anyways, back to spears...

Has anyone else given any thought to how well G10 or another phenolic might hold up to use as a polearm haft? Strikes me as potentially interesting (although probably hard to source).

In lieu of handing out infractions for immaturity, insults and fighting.....Thread Closed.

Liam Ryan and Horseclover, you may take your little fighting episode to the proper forum, which is W&C.

Next time this happens in the discussion forum, you will both be getting infractions.
