Specially for the Fatwood haters !

Heck, there I go screwing up again, I thought we were going to the woods, if we're going to Lowes, I'll pick up an electric start propane torch, some roadflares and maybe some of those easy light sawdust fireplace logs. Chris

While you are there grab us some nice comfy chairs and a radio :p

Cool pics man,
As long as you get the fire going that is what counts.

I could care less if you use fat wood or gasoline and a firesteel, matches,
lighter or a coal, just so long as you post the pics of the fire:D.

Here is a fire

I had fire yesterday for cooking Bison sausage, and frybread
to have with my cheese and crackers and tea. I started that fire with
some fat wood that I got at walmart and used my lighter to
start it all :p.

Bryan
I've had Bison sausage for brunch 3 days running this week, I'd love to join ya for one of your cookouts Bryan !;)

Forget the fat wood. I hate you b/c you live within walking distance of that lake! :D

LOL thanks buddy !

It's actually a salt water Inlet. I often see Seals, Otters and Jelly fish there to name but a few of the locals !

fatwood is a natural tinder. The best there is, IF you can find it. There are many other substitutes, but none are as good. If you want to use different tinders for your own liesure, so be it. The only tinder that rivals fatwood in its stand alone state is birch bark, which can be found any time of year. But it still doesnt burn as well as fatwood. Wind, sleet, hail, rain, snow..fatwood burns.

I love fatwood, can you tell? Dont hate fatwood because it works.

Yes, other tinders work, they may be harder to light and usually require more prepariation! Fatwood burns best, burns easiest burns longest and burns hottest.

if you cant find or dont have access to any fatwood, i feel bad for you. But dont hate it because it works. Its all natural and totaly pure.....how can someone hate that? How can somone hate somthing that lights up like a firework when introduces to spark or flame?

*sigh* ok, i'm done. Good job on the fire lighting Pitdog, and nice pics...as always.

Lol you guys seem like a fun bunch......I'm with chris on that one.
Just checking out the site, like it. I'm an old mud-gut from the B.C. Interior

Pit, I see the ice has melted once again. I think if I owned that boat to the right in the picture, I would seriously be thinking about getting it out while no chopping is necessary . . . :)
Nice shots & good review. Is there a fire code in that area, or did the guy say anything about your fire? We have certain areas in our local parks / reserves that fire is a no-no year round.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride once again.
Be safe.

Awesome photos Pit! Love life in a rain forest, sudden streams and what have you. That last shot is fantastic.

Man, I wish we had a gasoline tree down this way!!

Now this is a man after my own heart . . .:)
Be safe.

Shelter is wonderful but there is something special about fire... I like the mention of road flares- I keep one in my BOB for times when fire is need RIGHT now- like falling in cold stream.
Mu son and I make every excuse to practice our firemaking skills even if just for a backyard campfire.

Most places say no fires but if you had one on the beach areas I don't think anyone would mind.
I put my little one out just because sheeple find what we do as quite odd and might of thought I was some weird druggy or arsonist, LOL !

Pit, c'mon ole' buddy, all you would have to do is show him that shot of you waist deep in that stream with that log above you head . . .
That should erase all doubt . . . :D:thumbup:
Be safe my man.
