Speed holes - good or evil?

More areas to collect debris in my mind
Anyone who’s carried a Ti-Lite with g10 or zytel scales for a long time can attest to that. Dust, lint, even a little corrosion if you go long enough before pulling it apart. Flow-through designs don’t have that problem though.

It's a high-speed low-drag thing.

I think they also give you an evasion bonus against enemy ninjas.

... or maybe it was speed? I can never tell how much of the evasion stat on this knife is from the speed holes or the tactical blackness. Coincidentally, the blue pivot collar I installed here gave me a an extra saving roll the last time I was surprise-attacked by a murder of crows.

Mechanical upkeep, it's what it is

I like the holes on my Hold Out because they improve my grip and I also like the way they look.

This Silver Falcon is the second one that I bought. It was purchased this year. When I bought my first one in 1980 or 1981 it stood out among the other knives in the display case because of the holes. The holes had a lot to do with the reason that I bought it. I like the aesthetics for some reason.

I have been using the 3 inch Hold Out as a daily carry/work knife in addition to a larger edc knife daily for the last couple of years. While I alternate my bigger edc daily, I ve carried the HO 3 every day. The handle holes improve the grip. Light, strong and an amazing slicer. One day I may quit carrying the bigger knife. And I used to look down on 3 inch blades.

I’m a fan of holes in some knives. Asthetically pleasing to my eye. I like swiss cheese too, so what do I know? 😂🤣

No thanks. I can deal with the ones on the ZT 0801ti and 0308, maybe because they’re symmetrical….
I don’t care for what Olamic does. I think they look better with regular anodized TI or CF. The difference in size, shape, placement of the holes makes them look… weird

Add me to the column of lifetime membership in team no speed holes. Hate em. Hate em forever.

Holes in the handle can make the knife a lot easier to grab onto for pulling out of pocket and for flicking open and generally holding on to. I’ve had Olamics with no holes in the handles and they are not as good as the ones with holes where your fingers naturally fall on the handle.

Amen! 😎👍
