splitting wood with a small blade

Yegads ! Now I have to go get my hingle set ! L:O:L
Yeah I,ll stick to the smaller trees for quite a while . Anyway I wouldn,t want to tackle anything larger than 5 or 6 inches diameter with the becker .

There is generally little reason to, wood tends to get heavy rapidly as it gets larger as well. A eight inch tree is about 32 times as heavy as a two inch one.

Pooting rain . If it lightens up to a drizzle I,ll be off to the archery range . If not I,m going to scrape out some arrows and If I get brave enough scamper out to the car and grab the hawk handle . I hope it lightens up .

Rain is annoying from a wood working point of view, especially heavy felling as every time you move a tree you get hit with a shower from the branches. From a survival perspective though it is useful to have experience as the handling of your tools will change, some grips can be difficult to use when wet, and how do your knives react to extended water soaking. How much more difficult is it to start a fire in the rain, what kind of clothes do you need, and how long does it take for you to get uncomfortable in "regular" clothes. How long can you walk in regular sneakers when they are bogged through with water. I don't mind rain much, sleet is a bit more troublesome though, it would not be as bad if I didn't have classes but my visibility drops to pretty much a few meters in minutes.

If I was a horse they would call me a mudder . I love to shoot my bow in the rain and only stop after it drastically starts to affect my equipment , If its chilly and wet I find as long as I have a neck warmer of some kind on I can proceed where others falter . A reasonably rain resistant coat and good footwear . If I start to slog in sodden shoes I will wimp out . When I see soldiers tramping in a stream or hunters crossing a river I wonder how they keep going with sodden footwear .
As the woods were quieter in the rain I got to see foxes playing with their mother and had one twice within 12 feet of me .
