Had a chance to spend some time with Ethan yesterday and we talked about dates for the spring gathering in Vonore, Tn.
We came up with the weekend of April 15-17.
This misses spring break, mid-terms, Easter, & Mother's day AND gives our knifemaker friends/members a break in the middle of their Blade show prep - with plenty of time to finish up before the trek to Atlanta in June.

So - post in this thread if you're planning on showing up.
Include how many in your group, tent/hammock, and any specific topics/skills you would like to work on.
so far there are no formal "classes" scheduled, but if you post stuff up, others with a similar interest will know who to talk to.

Attending:
Ethan B (1, sleeping in a bed)
CM Rick (1, hammock: .75, tent)
Guyon (1 - 1.75, hammock or tent)
Psyop Stand-in Stunt double Col Defender (1, tent)
CBear (1 in a hammock)

Tankerwolf (1 in a hammock)
NCSlice (2.75 in an 8x8 tent)
Murphnuge (1, hammock)
Salty (2 - hammock, tent, truck bed....)
Dysphoric Joy (2.75, tent)
knifejunkie1928 (2, tent)
James Terrio (1, opportunistic sleeper; 1 + comfortable camper)
saturated shadow (1, hammock)
tbhride (1, hammock or car)
TMHunt (2.5 tent)
G$luv (2 + 2 tent-ish)
Hawk590 (1 hammock)
TPVT (1 tent)
Low96hb (2 tent)
Gutsy (2 tent)
Derek H (tent)
Pointy (DerekH)
Coldone (1 tent)
nutoknives (2 )
averageiowaguy (1, tent)
rolled edge (2, tent)
FredStiegler (1, hammock)
Dexwithers (1, hammock)
J.M. Jarosz (1, tarp/tent)
Mistwalker (1.5, truck cab)
Caine (maybe 2)
tradewater (2, undetermined, but there will be pies)

And that's enough bodies to fill half moon ridge.
keep chatting in the thread, especially if something comes up that you can't attend, but at this point we need to cap this so we can start planning activities and food. (it would be a CRIME if we ran out of bacon or tortillas & cheese, after all!)

I'm in. Just one for now. Hammock. I'm down for whatever anyone wants to teach, learn, or do.

One for sure. Maybe two, depending on my son's baseball schedule.
If it's just me, hammock. With two, probably a small two-man tent.

I'm going to give a seminar on tactical hammock evasion techniques.

If I make it I can teach a class on tactical counter attacks from hammocks, but I will need a Heater.

I should be able to make it to this one. Just me and will attempt to swing this time.

We'll be there...3 in a tent 8x8. I'll be taking orders for Yeungling and whatever anyone else may need from 'round here's.

Not sure if I'll have any home grown eggs that early, but I'll bring some bacon!

I have to run 11 miles that Sunday. Who's going to pick me up if I send up S.O.S. smoke signals from over at the lake?

Haha, I will if you'll run with my daughter. Shes a cross country runner. They do 3 miles. No way she'll do 11 but prob a mile or 2

she has plenty of time to work up to 11 -- SWMBO ran X-country on scholarship in college and can give her plenty of training tips. (after a significant break from running, she trained up to a half-marathon trail run last winter)

oh, yeah - I would love the chance to take home a couple cases of yuengling porter if you can find any.

I can look too. I finally found it here at Harris Teeter grocery stores. Of course, Harris Teeter went out of business. Other places have to sell it though.

Pretty sure we have the porter down here as well. I'll take a look next time I'm in the store.

Random question.

If I bring my wife is she going to be the only girl there?

Do some of you guys bring your wives?

There are a decent number of wives/gfs there. The place would barely run without Kay(Trade's wife) . NCSlice's woman held down a medivac a year or so ago. Chance Sanders' wife is always by his side. The women are welcome and keep us heathens from setting ourselves on fire on the mountain and/or drowning in alcohol.

Joey and I will be attending. Total peeps: two (2.)

Joey needs nothing more than a tent or a hammock which he will bring. He could even do with less - truth be told.

Me however, on the other hand, prefer a bed (King Serta/Temperpedic preferred) with a hot tub, bidet, towel warming apparatus along with valet for attire and tending to miscellaneous details but ... in deference to the overall graciousness of our host will take what I can get with a humble petition for as close to the requested as I can get.

As far as topics or skills that I would seek to participate in or perhaps share my knowledge about, I have been told that I possess a level of adeptness, if you will, at eating and drinking; I can also hold my own in cigar smoking as well as the spinning of yarns. In addition to a sought after anointing as the Official Gathering Raconteur, I look forward to a knife centered fellowship of the faithful interposed with jovial jocularity.
