Spring 2016 Becker East Gathering - sign-up closed

If any of you south bound individuals happen to live in a place they sell diet squirt, I would love to take a couple 12 packs home.
Also I go past / stop at Bentons on the way up if any one needs some bacon / pork related objects.

Count me in. Looking forward to hanging out at the Becker homestead again!

It will be good to put some names to faces... or faces to names I guess hehe

I'll either be in my hammock, or sleeping in my car :)

the campsite is on top of a ridge accessible by 4x4 and/or 4x2 w/locking diff. if the path is dry.

Think a 2004 Subaru Forester can make it? I've been up there with Ethan in his fancy golf cart once, but it looked pretty tight?

Middle of April seems likely to be rather chilly to be swinging in the breeze

Nah man, its all about insulation! I've hammocked both in the snow and in a strong cold breeze before. Thermarest Ridge-Rest makes all the difference, and of course if you have something like an MMS system you've got nothing to worry about. My $0.02

I've seen a few outbacks go up the hill -- if the forrester has similar ground clearance, you'll be good to go.
my dakota 4x4 bumps the tail end at one point, though.

I think a forester sits a bit higher than the outback. I know the Forster struts are popular mods for Imprezza lifts. I'd love to see it given a shot. Guess I'm an ex Subaru fan Since my Outback Sport blew up and I went to Jeep.

I never got around to lifting mine, but I'd love to have a lifted 85 GL turbo stump jumper! There's a bunch of awesome vids from USMB.net of lifted soobs muddin and running on trails and thru rivers. They have a whole community with gatherings and such. Mostly up in the NW since they came from Japan on the west coast. Not so many around here.

google is my friend.
same ground clearance, but forrester is 8" shorter and 2" narrower -- so it may handle that last hairpin turn a little better.

Hmm, are you looking at the new ones or the 04? The new outbacks are a friggin SUV. I think the O4 were still a sedan wagon.

Compared to a similar vintage Outback, my Foz has the same ground clearance, but is shorter and the overhangs are a little shorter. Thanks guys!

My 2000 Outback has been up and down the hill lots of times. (Though I sort of hit the front bumper in a rut once and lost the guard over the headlight - light still works though.) That said, conditions change on that road all the time.

I'll be there. Most likely just me, possible one other, my boy, depends on a lot though. Ill be in my tent, usual spot.

I'm very pleased to say, Angie has agreed to come with me and spend the whole weekend with you lunatics. She is not quite as excited about sleeping in the cold woods as I am, so I will ask Ethan if she might find a warmer spot in the house, if the weather gets...less than welcoming.

Sorting out our schedules right now. If everything works out, it will be Christine and I with our "boys" at our usual location. If that's ok.

I was hoping you and Christine would chime in. :)

As for your canine rascals, I would love to see them again, too. Partly because I just plain like 'em, but also because I intend to bring Sabbath along. She will be roughly one year old by the middle of April, and I feel she needs more socialization with other people and dogs in a sort of neutral but friendly place. Sabbath will be on a leash or in a harness the whole time.

I'll bring enough shelter-type stuff for me, my wife, my dog and a little extra just in case :)

Awesome! My girls are excited to see your "boys" again!

Angie's bringing 2 leashes! :D

Regarding activities, if anyone had experience with primitive fire starting, I'd love to get some coaching on true flint and steel and/or a fire bow.

If anyone has some TKC G10 scales on their tweener, I'd love to try them out.

Can't wait!
