Springfield Armory XD Series - thoughts and opnions

If you plan on shooting matches at some point, it might be worth it to consider the XDM 5.25. Can be had in 9, .40, and .45. Have you shot them in diff calibers/lengths yet?
No, haven't shot any yet. I'm being lazy and waiting for a new gun shop/range to open up just down the road.

If I were going to buy another "plastic pistol", it would be a S&W M&P full-sized, in .45 Auto (ACP)...Those feel very good in my hand.

I just picked up a XD-S yesterday. Been waiting for a Shield in 9mm, but after waiting for most of last year and still nothing, I went with the XD.

Going shooting with it today. Hoping it'll warm up a little bit though. The temp is 1F, with a wind-chill of -13F. :D

That's about the only reason I would go with a polymer handgun over a full steel framed. Fortunately, I don't live in that temperature extreme.

I have a xds 45 love it. Aside from a few jams with crappy steel ammo. It's fires nicely I traded in my glock 27 for it. I wanted the slimmer frame for itwb carry. I like the blackstrap safety for carrying that way.

I have the XD-S as well. Love it. Just got a concealed holster for it from my wife for Christmas. You would not even know it was there.

I had a xdm 40 and loved it, Overall it was a good gun, but i traded it in for a gen 4 glock. Just because I love glocks and have owned several and have yet to have one fail me, It's a matter of preference I guess I just prefer glock over the XDM.

I personally don't like the xds but my bother loves them you just need to go shoot or handle it yourself to see if it suites you.
I didn't like them because of the grip lock, hard to find parts, and I had several times where a bullet failed to eject.
My suggestion would be either the m&p or a walther ppq

I am not a fan of the grip safety. I just don't like the fact that I can always feel it, and I'm always conscious of of it. Perhaps after shooting a few hundred rounds I would have grown accustomed to it, but my Sig P229 required no such learning curve.

had an xdm 9mm since they first came out, no issues wonderful nightstand gun

got an xds about 4 months ago, perfect carry gun though I have only put about 150 round through it so far, two light primer strikes

glock,XD, and M&P are all great guns....it really just comes down to personal preferences and for me I put XD first, then M&P, then glock but not much separation between them and no real objective differences

I prefer a metal frame on a pistol, but I know my father is partial to the XD/XDM series. He just recently bought the XDM45. 13+1 of 230gr madness. Feels okay in the hand to me but he loves them.

I have had an XD45 tactical for 4 years now. Best handgun I have ever owned. very accurate. I have only had one issue ever, and it was a bad round of remington ammunition. Had a faulty rim on the case. Otherwise its eaten every kind of ammo I have put through it flawlessly.
