Springfield Armory XD Series - thoughts and opnions

After shooting a couple friend's Glocks, I didn't want to like plastic guns.
Borrowed and rented several different pistols, and decided on the XD45. It felt great in hand, and I could hit reliably with it.
I picked one up late last year.
First round with the new gun went direct through center of bullseye at 7yds. (subsequent ones didn't all, but that's me, not the XD.)
I've only put about 120 through it so far, 230gr ball, hp, and +P XTP, in 2 days at the range. Absolutely no issues whatsoever thus far.
I've found standard Federal FMJ's to to group best, but I have a few more things to try.
I love this thing.

Best semi-auto I have ever handled, shot, or owned, Period.

IMHO, they are superior to Glock, as I have owned both and still own an XD.

I have a early XD-45 service model. Very accurate and has run flawless since I have owned it

Update....finally decided and more importantly found one in stock online. I'm going with the XDM .40 3.8 Compact in bitone finish. Took me a few weeks to find one; hard to find in the shops locally. Pretty excited, but won't be able to shoot until next week. :(

I have several XD-45s and XD-45 Compacts. I have quite a few other handguns, many of which I trust and adore, and I've owned a Glock 19. I don't mean to diminish any other brand, but I find the XDs (in increasing order of importance) attractive, economical, safer (I happen to think the backstrap safety a huge asset), comfortable (to handle and carry), accurate (it hits whatever I aim at), and utterly reliable (I NEVER have issues with it, and it's the only firearm I've shot that shoots EVERYTHING). They are my main carry and "go-to" handgun. I carry 45s when I can, because bigger is obviously better, but The XD subcompacts--while great guns--are too big to be pocketable, so I go with a Kahr PM9 when I have to go smaller than my XD-45C. I'm a firm believer in sticking with the "tried and true"--especially when my life is at stake--so, while I think the XDS is cute as can be, I still don't trust it (like any small 45). Plus, it's still too big for regular pockets.

Just a little follow up. This thing shoots sweet. The very first shot was dead center on the target. This picture shows a bunch of crap from the s&w 357, but the shot in the orange is the XDM .40. The rest of the rounds were not that good. Still need to practice.
