Just got this months Spyder Bite in my email. Has anybody heard anything more about the Advocate? Relase date? Looks like a must buy for me.

I think a street price of $221.97 is pretty good! Remember you're getting a nicely textured titanium frame lock with steel lock bar insert, bearings flipper, a 3.49" FFG blade of M4 steel that's just 0.118" thick and weighs just 3.6 ounces.

"The all-new Spyderco Advocate represents a new direction in folding knife design from Gayle Bradley. It reflects his recent focus on more tactically oriented knives while maintaining all the key qualities and attributes that make his designs so special.

Like many of Bradley’s coveted custom knives, the Advocate's blade is precision machined from CPM® M4—a high-performance particle metallurgy tool steel renowned for its extreme edge-holding ability. The full-flat-ground, PlainEdged™ blade includes a fully functional Trademark Round Hole™ for traditional one-handed opening methods, as well as a prominent index-finger flipper that also functions as a lower guard when the blade is open. Special friction-reducing ball-bearing washers on each side of the blade’s pivot ensure an ultra-smooth action and lightning-quick deployment regardless of the opening method used.

The Advocate’s distinctive handle consists of two painstakingly machined solid titanium scales. Their outer surfaces are carefully radiused to provide a comfortable, ergonomic grip and treated with a stunning “orange peel” texture that is both visually appealing and provides a subtle non-slip texture. The reverse-side scale is machined to create a high-strength Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism that is complemented by a hardened stainless steel interface. The interface ensures long-wearing, steel-on-steel contact between the lock face and blade ramp and also serves as an overtravel stop to preserve the lock bar’s proper spring tension. To minimize weight, the handle boasts an open-backed construction style that also simplifies cleaning and maintenance. A reversible hourglass clip provides convenient left or right-side tip-up carry and guarantees that the Advocate is always poised and ready for action.

A spectacular reflection of Gayle Bradley’s latest design and knifemaking efforts, the Advocate is also a proud new addition to the Spyderco family of flipper-opening folders."

Actually, not a bad price for what we're getting.
Hopefully this one will be ready by Xmas.

Never had M4 and not sure I'd like it in a folder but it's a good looking knife and is priced competitively in today's market.

I played around with this at the Oregon Knife Show in April, and this was one of the coolest knives I saw. It fits the hand beautifully, and though I don't usually go for flippers, this I will make a happy exception for. I even walked back to the Spyderco table two more times just to play with it again.

The size, weight and ergonomics are some of the best I have ever encountered, and I use the superlative "best" deliberately.

I am impressed enough that I might even buy one new and pay full price, a very rare occurrence.

I'm fairly excited for it, but I doubt I'll get one any time soon. I'm looking forward to others impressions once they start shipping out!

I think it is a great price, I am all over it the nano second it comes out.

Price seems very fair for materials used and don't forget it's a collab.

I don't need any more flippers. I already have GB1 and don't need another M4 blade. The blade should be tad thinner for my taste. And I like Wharncliffe better anyway. Steel insert in the lock bar which also works as a overtravel stop? Who needs that? I actually don't need the flipper tab, if the knife has a spyder hole. It claims more space in my pocket.

I am trying to resist.

Did they delete the divot pattern on the handle...? Or am I just remembering something else...?

Man, this one seems to be growing on me. Looks better and better the more I look, and that Spyder byte really got my attention.
Already so many on my list I can't afford, though! Ahhhhh

I already told (warned) my wife that I'm getting one as soon as it comes out. No way I'm going to pass this one up.

Scales have always had an orange peel pattern I believe

All fair points about the price. I saw the Spyderco list price and was just suffering from some sticker shock. I've steered clear of M4 prior to now, but am quite curious to see one of these with a patina.

Was thinking of a milled divot pattern. I think I was getting mixed up recalling his custom advocate in my head or something...

Not the orange peel texture finish... I like how that appears. Might hold in a pocket under a clip a bit better than some smooth finish ti handles I have, too.

If I were married I'd likely have done the same. This knife checks numerous boxes for me.
