Spyderco Balance

That thing is smaller then a Ladybug, for $200 MSRP?

The design doesn't appeal to me, but at that price even if it did I wouldn't want it.

Yeah, pricey bugger.. I'd guess it's the combination of limited run + Ed Schempp + Carbon fiber that makes it so expensive.

I hope they make a SS etched version like they did with the Cricket, Spin, etc.

Personally I think this one looks really cool. Closed it's symmetrical, open... it looks like a
turtle to me... I love turtles ;-)

I need to look into this little knife.

I love CF, but will definitely have to pass on this one. The looks and price are deal killers.

Definitely something different, though the price is wayyyy too much for what it is. Can't see all too much use in it either. To each their own.

Boy, with all these no's, Ed Shempp and Sal must be disappointed.

I really like the look of the Balance. Perfect gentlemen's folder or desk knife. However, I'm going to have to pass in favor of the Sage 3 and the FFG Persian. $108 just seems a bit much for that knife, you can get a Sage 1 for less.

This is the one true miss for me, from spyderco. every knife they have released in there history has appealed to me even if only partially, but this one not at all.

just my 2 cents, but dont worry i still love spyderco most of all!

Was thinking the same thing, though thankfully BF isn't their entire market.

We are a very refined group, a very experienced group. The balance is obviously a very specific knife for specific people and will likely be a collectors piece.

That is most likely what it is, a collectors piece. Not a bad thing since many spydercos are like that for one reason or another. And like you said, a specific knife for specific people.

spyderco has been getting carried away with the price of their knives with carbon fiber handle scales and that makes no sense to me, as companies like CRKT are offering cf handled knifes for the $60 - $80 range !!! same with s30v blades if buck can make a vantage pro why does a taiwan made spyderco with s30v cost over $100 ? i love spyderco knives but i think their overseas knives are starting to cost a little too much...
