Spyderco Discontinued Products

You guys may never believe this story but...

When I was a rookie cop I received a Rookie from my now wife as a gift. Needless to say I lost it. Now that I'm an old timer and have a little scratch, I'm looking to replace it. Does anyone have any ideas how I might find one? Any help would earn a guy a six pack! I'll ship!

Sad to see all of the Native's go - One of my favorite knives. Have two of them. One of them has a special place in my heart, as the girlfriend picked one up at the SFO while she was in Golden on business and had my initials engraved on it.

Picked up a C41PBK recently to add to my C41PSBBK the lady bought me in Golden. Guess I need to grab a C41PSBK and and C41PPN to add to the stable.

There was a Sprint Run Native 5 S110V CF (C41CF5) late last year. You may still be able to find one at a good price. They produced quite a few of them.

They're still out there. What I like about the older style, FRN handle is the blade grind. That is what I enjoy. I'm a FFG guy normally, but there's just something about the older grind that does it for me.

There was a KnifeCenter exclusive last year with the old grind: Native Lightweight with Carpenter CTS-XHP Blade and Brown FRN Handles.

RamZar,

Been keeping my eyes peeled for one!:)

The old Native folders have a special place for me too. My very first Spyderco was Native II (C42) which I got in August 2000! I still have it with all the scratches.

Just picked up a few on this list... two more Lil' Matriarchs for the safe, and a Police 3 G10 in Spyderedge

OG PM. Spyderco has pretty much lost me as a customer. Other than a Native and Military, all the Spydies I've bought in the last six months have been original models. The Swiss cheese multi clip position grip scales are just unpalatable. Spyderco isn't making money from my after market purchases.
I overlook the holes if the model design is really nice. I love my Navaja, and am glad I purchased it before it was discontinued.

So Sal, keep bringing us exotic and beautiful models.

Are you saying you don't like the Spyderco opening hole in the blade? Or are you saying you don't like the drilling for different clip positions? Either way, those are a couple of spydercos biggest selling features. Also, what do you mean by original models? Also, you say spyderco has all but lost you as a customer, but you have bought more than two spyderco's in the last six months? Doesn't sound like they've lost you at all. Not trying to stir up anything, this was just a really confusing post for me.

The native makes the least amount of sense on the list, isn't it supposed to be a workhorse? Unfortunately I missed out on the xhp sprint when it came out but hey, that's what the secondary market is there for.
Gonna be sore on missing the navaja, but at least the schempp bowie will take it's place

I'd love to the Caly 3.5 in Earth Brown in S35v. This isn't something that I think would be very successful, just my wishful thinking. I do hope it comes back. I never was a fan of the CF version.
I doubt that S35VN Caly3.5 is realistic. I cannot recall any Japanese made Spydercos with US steel. Also I really like VG10. Earth Brown Caly3.5 I beleive is a good idea.
No regrets about Native. IMHO native5 is so much better. I love this knife.

I'm glad Spyderco keeps it fresh by killing old models. I just hope to see more Moki-made, Sal-designed back locks. Keep them coming please...

I have a NIB TUFF and a NIB Caly 3.5 (ZDP and SB) put away...for when I get "old."
So MANY nice knives, so LITTLE time.
:)

It's gone for now. Smaller market. Might come back in the future as a sprint, but no plans for now.

sal

Thank you Sal. I'll be the first in line for a sprint run of it.
Here's an idea I think would be awesome. Frag pattern textured titanium side with a matching frag pattern forest green g10 scale or frag carbon fiber scale. I think the knife steel is perfect as is but that's up to your expertise.
Til then I guess I'll buy a 3rd tuff.
