Spyderco Endura 4,is it really worth the 70$?

Most places charge $3 to $5 more for the FRN and SS Endura than for comparable versions of the Delica. It's certainly not unreasonable or illogical, considering the blade is thicker and the entire knife is larger. Of course, if you only need a 3" blade then the Endura may not be worth the extra $$$$, but I'm guessing a lot of folks find the extra 3/4" of blade worth the price. And yes, all versions of both the Delica and Endura are made in Seki-City Japan.

The Endura 4 is one of only two knives I've ever sent back to a seller besides a CRKT Hammond Cruiser. Although it's a great slicer, came very sharp, light and sleek it's overall impression on me was just weak and flimsy. Blades to thin for me, more blade play then I've ever seen on any knife with the pivot screw tighten as hard as it would go side to side and up and down, the lock did not seem like it could hold much pressure at all. I got it for $56 new and like gastonian said you can get a Manix 2 lightweight in S110v or Manix XL or something for $30 more. I'll never get another Endura but will be trying other Spyderco's in the future. I guess i like heavily built knives like Adamas, contego,Recon 1 and those types. For a food prep knife think endura would be great but otherwise not for me. Can get something better new or used for not much more $. Everybody has features they like and dislike about a knife so maybe it's just me.

This Endura has none of those issues. Paid $60 for, the Manix was $70. As to the OP's question of overpriced???? Yes, I would never again pay $60 for an Endura, when the Rat 1 is only $30 and is very comparable with the exception of steel quality and an additional 1.6 ounces.

Now with that said for $70, USA made, CTS-BD1, with Ball Bearing lock, and under 3 ounces, HELL YES!!!! I will buy those all day.

Now for the eye candy....

All 3 knives are very sharp and slicey...

The Endura is too long for my EDC needs, but it is very carry-friendly with its light weight and flat profile. It's a Spyderco classic but you have to decide whether it meets your particular needs.

It is more than worth it to me since it is one of my favorite user/carry blades. YMMV... $65 for the VG10? Worth it... $90 for the ZDP and SB blades is worth it to me too, and if they make G10 versions and/or sprint steels again- those will be worth it as well :)

Firestrike, eye candy indeed Sir.

thanks guys for the feedback. I am going to order one and if I don't care for it ,it will go to one of my boys.

YES. I love mine. In fact I'm having trouble loving my new Umnumzaan because of how similar in size and shape it is. The Endura 4 is definately worth $70

Some Spyderco knives are under valued. The Endura at ~$70 is a fair price. Mine is now two years old, used often, sharpened much and it's still awesome. Knives like the new s110v Manix are just stupidly low priced! That's not the only knife priced to kill. Knives like these make the Endura look worse than it is. Very few production Spyders are overpriced, especially when quality and warranty is considered.

Keep in mind. Inflation SUCKS!!!!!!! The knives are "worth" the same thing, the mighty dollar is just sagging. Vg10 knives are Japanese so what about the exchange rate now? $70 is a pair of running shoes, month of internet, four movie tickets/snacks... Sure not minuscule, but buy todays standards not that much.

The Endura at KW is 68.00. The Griptilian is 98.00. About 7-8 years ago I got my Endura for 55.00 and my Griptilian for 64.00. Just providing some additional perspective.

I've had dozens. Either lost, sold, given away most but still when I want a knife I don't mind beating the hell out of I grab an Endura.
No matter what anyone thinks of the model or its capabilities, I've never had one let me down.

My recent go-to Endura.

Love it!!! The armorer's tool!

OP, the Endura is great. It's great at 60 bucks, at 70 plus I'd go with the Manix 2. Either way, you'll need to get an Endura or two and a Manix or two.

The endura 4 is worth the money and then some. Light, strong, awesome blade steel and excellent cutter. The toughest part of the decision for me was which color to buy. The orange is sweeeeeet..

Wow that is nice. I guess I'm $70 poorer thanks to your post

I had owned a couple Enduras but parted with them because the ergos are a little off for me. The hump behind the second finger groove would pressure my pinky unless I held the knife further back than I wanted.
I just picked up another in electric blue and I took that baby to the contact wheel on my Home Depot special Ryobi 4X36 belt sander and voila! Smoothed over that hump and gave myself a primo custom grip. The FRN sands nicely. Gives it a little more traction too.
The Endura is still a little big for my EDC needs. I prefer the Delica. But I'm always happy to add one more to the stable. Can't turn away a Spydie!
