Spyderco Endura 4,is it really worth the 70$?

Cannot believe someone would question the quality coming out of Japan. It's usually Taiwan nowadays.

I've been an avid Spyderco collector for awhile now. The knives being made for them in Taichung, Taiwan are of the best quality, IMO. Consistently high level of fit and finish.
The Golden-made knives are also of high quality although less consistent than Taichung.
I own a number of Delicas and they've all been perfect. Same with an Endura and Stretch. Yes there is a small amount of vertical play with these lockbacks.
It's the higher-end Seki-made knives that have given me some trouble.

Based on my purchases--and I have quite a few Spydercos--Japan-made, which includes Moki-made, are much lower in quality and consistancy both compared to Golden and Taichung. Throw the price difference on top, and it's just no comparison.

Guys, I'm not questioning the quality coming out of Taiwan. Just stating I like the quality of my Japanese Spydies too.

Ankerson has a great thread for steel tolerances that he did awhile back for edge holding. He rated cts bd1 in one of the lowest categories I do not know what knife he tested with that steel but it left me concerned with the quality of bd1 and is the reason I haven't picked up manix2 with bd1 and am holding out for the g10 in s30v

For the op there's definitely support out there that vg10 is a superior edge holder to bd1. I want to make it clear I haven't used it myself and am not making a personal claim, just going off older bf threads.

Also my experience with knife companies is that if you buy a flag ship model, the knife that put the company on the map (kabar usmc, cold steel recon, kershaw blur, etc) you will rarely be disappointed.

If it's BD1 it had to be a Manix 2 LW or an FRN UKPK. I don't believe it's been used on any other recent productions.
